I play Runes heavily.

Top US server guild. We were the first to clear current endgame content and certainly the best geared and most highly skilled players on the server. Our members are the best geared players in the US.

Collectively, we were among top 5% of players worldwide.

PM some deets and I can meet anyone in-game if they want help from a highly geared endgame raider.

Ahhh. Played every one since I was in middle school, won't stop now.

anyone play Bioshock? I've seen ads for the sequel and am interested in renting the original to see if it's fun.

Here's a list of stuff posted over on a Civ Fanatics forum of stuff about Civ V:

- Switch from squares to hexagons changing the way the game plays. More room for maneuvers and more tactical options.
- Changes to combat. More depth in combat, no more stacking of units. This will lead to bigger focus on terrain.
- Inspired by Panzer General.
- Reintroduction of Bombardment, now archers and siege equipment can shoot over melee units.
- Better diplomatic AI.
- More diplomatic options between players.
- Less "cheating" AI.
- Religion is not a factor anymore.
- Ressources are not infinite. For example one source of horse only supplies enough horses for 1 unit, but when that horseman dies the horses will respawn as a unit. (this confused me alittle, i guess we will have to watch it in action)
- City States as a sort of small countries that never develop beyond their single city. They can provide bonusses if you befriend them, or you can take over their land.
- Civics are out, now there is something called "Social Policies".
- About the same amount of wonders, the tech tree will feel familiar. Great People still in.
- Some victory conditions changed. For example in Conquest you only have to capture all the other capitals. Eliminates boring mop up phase.
- Unique Civ leader bonusses, no more standard "Spiritual" or "Financial".
- DirectX 11 support.
- Built in webbrowser. Sid Meier is also working on a facebook application of Civilization.

I was not caring until I saw this list. It seems like they are making some significant changes to the game. I'm particularly encouraged by the changes in the combat system.
petras
Glad they are getting rid of religion, never really liked that mechanic.

Just beat Phantom Hourglass... was alright, thinking about getting Spirit Tracks now. Can anyone speak for that game?
ParticleHustler
I pulled out Civ IV again last night and started a small 1 continent game and added a couple extra civs to it to ratchet up the difficulty of having 7 or so civs on a small piece of land. I'm basically smack in the center, which is not good. I quickly zeroed in on the French in the SE corner as the weakest and easiest to defeat, and went about beating on them, only to get attacked by 3 other civs (separately, not part of any alliance). I'm afraid I might get torn apart from all angles. It was only a matter of time until the close quarter tensions spilled over...

Frickin love this game. Hard to believe it's been over 4 years, a new one is coming out, and I'm still going strong on IV as if it was only a few months old.
BGwaves
Dont read this hread often but does anyone here play the mmo Fiesta? Just wondering if enemies ever try and attack you first... its a fun game but im a level 11 already and it seems like it isnt getting any harder. Am i missing something? Its still addictive questing and leveling up as with all mmo/rpg's.

Roommates and I have been playing this mad crazy lately. Big fan of Waluigi.

Also, Super Mario Galaxy 2 on May 23rd, who's excited?

amnesious

Anyone looking forward to this? Its going to fucking rule.
JeffTweedysFatStomach
I've been back and forth on pre-ordering RDR...I never really enjoyed the GTA games (didn't play the most recent one though), but the Western setting is massively appealing to me.
amnesious
You should totally hit GTA 4, its really good. This looks basically exactly the same as GTA 4 but in the west and horses instead of cars.

Can't wait, I've heard nothing but great things.

Grand Theft Horse.
wakingrufus
I picked up this today:

I'm not sure if this has been discussed in this thread, but It is basically a 3d version of an old-school zelda game. It is very tongue in cheek as well.
King: will you save the world?
me: No
King: Hey! that doesn't advance the storyline! you should be able to figure that out!

The custom character creation is very cool, and the developers have taken the opportunity to ship the game with a bunch of rediculous characters. like a car, an underground ninja that breathes through a snorkel, etc
The weapon upgrade system seems cool but i haven't gotten to try it out yet.

There are also a few references to demon's souls in it as well. I have picked up a fallen hero's soul, and found some sticky white stuff already.

IGN video review of Red Dead Redemption

Fuck I want this game real bad. Fuck I wish I had $100.

I ended up getting this game despite the fact I have zero $. Just getting started....

nice. I wasn't going to get this yet but I didn't realize it was available for 0.00
amnesious
I actually managed to get it for $20 cause I traded in 3 games.

So far im very impressed. I just fucking love Rockstar's sandbox games, no one does them better. Its badass riding around with a sweet western soundtrack playing shooting cougars and shit and then skinning them. Fun.
petras
GTA was never my favorite game, in fact i was always pretty meh on the series. But RDR looks amazing, I've always wanted a really good western game. Call of Juarez bound in blood was pretty fun but also pretty limiting. I'm definitly gonna be renting this one at some point soon.

amnesious
Anyone who has even remotely considered checking this game out really should grab it. Fuck it is good. There is so much stuff to do in single player and then when you get on to free roam in multiplayer it just gets bigger.

The best game I have played since Fallout 3.
Tracy Jacks
I will play this game at some point. In the meantime, I'm awaiting my Mario Galaxy 2 pre order.
yeknom
yeah, I'm gonna get RDR today, and an Ipad for my moms birthday, then live in poverty for a week and a half.
amnesious
Finished RDR the other day and I kinda wish I took my time a bit more. It was still over 25 hours of gameplay which is good, but I could have stretched it out longer. I was just dying to know what would happen next. Pretty unexpected ending.

Anyone played Mario Galaxy 2?
Is it any good?

I got an upgraded PC, and for the first time in my life I can actually play up-to-date games on a computer. And what do I do? Play a six-year-old game like Half-Life 2! But I've really gone on a bit of a gaming overload. Right now I have on computer:

Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2
The Saboteur
Singularity
Neverwinter Nights 2
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Left 4 Dead 2
The Witcher
Crysis
Ghostbusters: The Game
Braid
Mirror's Edge

And a couple of reeeeeally old ones, The Longest Journey and No One Lives Forever.

I honestly have no idea what I'll even play/finish out of those. Most were from a friend. I've already gone through most of the Half-Life 2 stuff (about 1/3 of the way through Episode 2, I'd say), and I've actually been having a bit of fun with two of the newest ones on there. The Saboteur is a nice time waster, but it gets repetitive and the AI is pretty bad. Still, I like the pulpy WWII setting and the story so that's what keeps me coming back. Singularity is a nice Bioshock ripoff, and I like the time manipulating gimmick a lot. But really, all these games are doing is just wasting time until September when I get Final Fantasy XIV. It'll be my first foray into an MMO. Kind of apprehensive but equally excited for it.

Definitely play braid not only is it a masterpiece....but it's a short masterpiece so you'll finish it pretty quickly. I didn't see it on your list but if you've been out of the pc gaming loop for a couple of years you need to play Portal....if you haven't already played it....playing it should be your goal in life.

yeknom
dragon age is badass too. Not sure I'd choose the upcoming FF title as my first MMO to jump into, but I'm not a fan of grinding out levels with huge swords.
Swan
Just finished PoP: Forgotten Sands. Really liked it compared to the last one. Not as graphically impressive, but was a good bit of fun.

Semi-related. I have been using Gamefly for a few months and I generally like it but have a few gripes.

1. The turnaround is SLOW.
2. Newer games seem to take about 3 months before they are "available" enough to get to me

Has anyone tried any other rental services with better luck, I've been considering GottaPlay, but it looks like they might not get new games right away?
Dread
I'm going to play Portal, too. I mean, I have a 360 and I could've played all of those Half-Life 2-related games on the Orange Box, but I never got it and these were free, so... I'll probably play Portal after I finish up Ep. 2.

I own Dragon Age on the 360. And I've heard FFXIV is going to be a bit more casual-friendly than other MMOs, so that's the appeal to me. Plus I have two friends who are getting it and I would really like to try it with them. I'm looking into the DC Universe Online, too, only because I might have the ability to bring my own self-created superhero from 15 years ago to "life" in a game. Depending on how you can create your character, that would be pretty cool to see my childhood imagination bloom into something tangible. But I'll also be playing Fallout: New Vegas and Fable III around then, so I probably won't have any time as I'm sure specifically New Vegas will suck up any free time I have (and possibly a bit I don't have).

I've tried a bunch and sadly gamefly appears to be the best. Some of them are really bad like gameznflix, they make gamefly look really fast.
I wish netflix would start doing games.

The trick to getting newer games is to make it the only game in your queue. I've never waited 3 months for new releases when it's the only game in my queue. Like Red dead redemption i got about a week after release using this method.

Thanks for the pointer, I am really looking forward to some coming fairly soon will try cleaning out my queue. Just got 3D Dot Heroes today, as a Zelda fan since the late 80s this is good fun, but these type of games really bring out the OCD in me.

I picked this up the other day and am probably a bit over half way. Pretty damn enjoyable, better than the first one. Some crazy shit goes down when the Big Sister's come out to play. Only briefly played the multiplayer but it was fucking laggy.

Well that was over fairly quickly. Good game though.

Im gonna return it and pre order Fifa 11 I think. That or Fallout: New Vegas, which looks fucking brilliant.
