Just got Full Auto 2 (PS3) and Ice Age 2 (Wii) in the mail. I think Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (PS3) should be coming sometime next week.
Looks like I'm going to be doing an e-mail Q&A with the developers of God of War II and MLB07: The Show for WorthPlaying. Any questions I should consider for either?

It might've been asked somewhere before, but I haven't seen it yet. Why was GoW2 developed for PS2 instead of the PS3? It seems strange that one of the most anticipated releases for 2007 is going to be for the PS2.

Yeah, that's one I was planning to ask. And maybe ask if there could be an expanded or director's cut edition for PlayStation 3 in the future.

My only guess is that they want to have it reach the bigger installed base, or because they wanted to get it out quickly without having to completely redesign it to take advantage of the ps3's hardware. It's probably running on the original games engine.
it doesn't matter though, good news for me, i have no plans to buy a ps3 pretty much ever.

Alas, add me to the wii search. Have been trying for 2 months to get one for my younger brothers.
I actually got some free time this week so I tried this game out. I've never played any in the series, but so far I'm very impressed. It's been a while since a game has had my heart racing.

Biohazard is the Japanese title for Resident Evil. So, yeah.

I'm currently using the Rice Owls. They're in Texas and play in the WAC. I'm just beginning a third season; we've won two bowl games including a NC. After this season is over I'm predicting an offer from the Big 12 to join the conference.

If so I might have to check them out next time I get waste-able video game time.

That said, The Resident Evil remake for cube is still pretty amazing, avoid any of the spin off series though. (outbreak, survivor).

The control schemes of the old Resident Evil games always turned me off. Considering the incredible critical reception of Resident Evil 4, I have to assume the same type of interface and gameplay will be used for RE5. Here's hoping.
Just tried out Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for 360. Seems like it could get old after a while, but it beats the hell out of the X-Men movie game.

I can officially confirm this statement.
I lucked out yesterday and through a hot tip from my best friend, I obtained a Wii from an EB Games in Chicago Ridge.
Needless to say, I sat around and messed with it all night, last night and it is pretty amazing. I only have Wii Sports thusfar, but seriously, that alone kicks ass, especially if someone is around and willing to play. I wound up playing Wii Sports, mainly golf and bowling, against my friend basically for the majority of the night.
I also created a Mii that resembled Hitler. A kissing Hitler, none the less. So Kissing Hitler was smashing dingers out of th park left and right in Wii Baseball. Shit, what a fun game.
I give Nintendo credit. A lot of credit, in fact. Their "the Wii will revolutionize gaming" and "it will attract non-gamers" philosophy worked like a charm. When I opened the box up, my whole family gathered around and started playing, too. My mom took her chances at golf and bowling against my sister and my dad tried his hand at golf. Keep in mind that, for the most part, my parents find video games to be rather dumb. I just found this pretty amazing. For one evening, my family was actually enjoying each others company thanks to a Nintendo. Whoda thunk it?!
But now I must seek another game to occupy my time. Zelda seems intriguing, but so does Trauma Center. What's the verdict on these? I know Zelda is basically the King Shit of Fuck Mountain for the Wii, but what about Trauma Center? The idea behind it seems basically amazing. Is it worth the time or is it more one of those "play once and toss aside" kind of games?

I got Trauma Center on Wii for Christmas, but haven't played more than a few minutes of it... but I played a couple hours of the DS version, and it's a pretty cool game. The Wii version seems like it would be just as good, if not better, as long as you figure out the controls. I played it for a few minutes at my buddy's house and jumped right into some mission... yeah, that was rough.

Got these coming for review. Hot!
ladytron: the tv series
Jan 11 2007, 12:13 PM
watched trauma center for about an hour yesterday. i was on the edge of my seat. the controls seemed as though you would mess up the first couple missions, but then you'd catch on really quickly and there would be no problem with it. i didnt play, but thats what i picked up on. but the missions seemed pretty hard.
and wtf you killing yourself in the game when you fail one mission and let one person die.
Tracy Jacks
Jan 11 2007, 01:10 PM
I had Trauma Center on the DS and returned it. I found the controls impossible to work with. Since there was no good system of feedback when you made an incision or stitch you could not figure out when you were doing something right, and be able to replicate the next time, or wrong, and be able to make improvements the next time. It all seemed too random.

I just finished Full Auto 2: Battlelines. Beyond the online multiplayer that I'll play tonight, I really hope I never play this game again. I wouldn't call it one of the worst games I've ever played, but it's definitely among the least favorite I've played in a while. It's so frustratingly designed... the original game was simpler and much more enjoyable. Ugh, and the boss fight was a catastrophe... and there was no ending. So dumb.
Lost Planet should arrive tomorrow, so the plan is to blaze through that as quickly as possible. I'm not expecting spectacular things. GameRankings has it at a 76% average right now, I think.

Just played the first three missions of Lost Planet. I'm diggin' it. It's not spectacular, but it's fairly mindless and very easy on the eyes. Though I did just yell at my TV for the last fifteen minutes after facing that last boss...
In other news, Circuit City has both Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids for $30 each this week. I was thinking of swinging by at 10am and picking up both, but I doubt I'll pick up either. I've already got a ton of stuff to play, and there's no way Red Steel should ever be purchased when I still haven't played Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops or Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (or F.E.A.R. or Trauma Center: Second Opinion or Final Fantasy XII or...)

I had a few people over after the bears game to play some bowling, and the thing just wouldnt turn on. i changed the batteries, and it still wouldn't turn on. the lights on the wiimote never came on. so then after several attempts with batteries and different methods of trying to get it to work, i called nintendo and their customer service dude was useless. he just sort of was like "uhrmm, i'm not sure what the problem is...you want a new wiimote?" So today I will call them back and get a new wiimote and be without the glorious wii for a few days. schucks.

naw, i didn't go to EIU.
The only reason I am playing as Eastern is because I started a "legacy" mode (the equivalent to a career/franchise mode) and you have to create a coach and then sign on with one of the 15 or so schools that are offering you a position. I was torn between signing with Eastern or something like University of South Florida. I decided to stick with EIU simply because I have a few friends out there, still, heading up a fraternity and what have you.
Otherwise, I would have gone with Villanova, all the way.

Fun, but disappointing.
I finished Wario Ware in 1 hour and 40 minutes. OK, not totally. There is still some stuff to unlock. But it took me that time to unlock the credits. The reviews have been on the money:
- It is far too short (even for a Wario Ware game).
- It is a little too easy
- It does not take full advantage of the Wii. It does use the controller. The issue is that the game is not expansively bigger/better in going from the GBA to the Wii, let alone the Gamecube to the Wii. There should be more microgames, more minigames, more game modes, better graphics/sound, just about everything about the game.
- It actually takes things away from past editions There are no toys like in Wario Ware Twisted. You can't play single microgames endlessly to get a high score.
- Even the cutscenes and songs don't live up to the ones from past games.
It's pretty shocking that Nintendo would miss this opportunity on a near flagship title and one of the first big Wii games.
Still, the Wario Ware concept remains great. The microgames are a lot of fun. The game itself is still a lot of fun. There is still nothing like it on other consoles. I am by no means sorry I got it. But it should have been so much more.

Shit. I played about 30 minutes of it today and was kind of frustrated by a couple of the games. But I was highly amused, overall.
As far as "Toys," there is the ball bouncing mini-game where you break the bricks while going up the tower. And you can play the microgames via the Form icon, I believe. I'm not entirely sure -- like I said, I played for 30 minutes.
I'm just about to write my review for Lost Planet. The multiplayer definitely improves the overall game -- the Post Grab gametype is really fantastic.

Hell, Harmonix created the Karaoke Revolution games, but handed the latest version (the American Idol one) to Blitz Games (creators of the BK games). It's just as good as the old stuff.
