I basically bought it purely so I would own the entire trilogy. I really like The Sands of Times and The Two Thrones, but pretty much everyone knows the direction they took for the middle game was sort of cheap. I played a bit of it a couple years ago and decided it was a sucky story, but... it still plays like PoP, and there's definitely fun found in that. It was also just $3.75 plus shipping on half.com.

I'm still chugging away slowly on Rogue Galaxy...

First PSP game I've bought in I don't know how long. Also my first R&C experience.

So far its pretty fun. First game I've played on the PSP doesn't feel like some clunky launch title or PS2 port. Another half dozen games like this one and I might have to lift the PSP out of its "complete disaster" categorization.

I've been meaning to play this for quite some time, but have yet to get around to it. Is it any good? And by "any good" i mean, is it worth the beating and insults that will be hurled at me for playing such a fruity looking game? I'm still recovering from the emotional scars inflicted during my Animal Crossing phase... dry.gif

Pinata game is fun in a similar vein as Animal Crossing. Really you dont do anything, yet you get ridiculously hooked in to this world of getting pinata's to live in your garden. I highly recommend said game/

Surprisingly digging this, though it's still a bit dull. Rock and Fire pitching slows things down a bit, but it's a classy system. Analog batting is the tits.

I'm trying to resist the urge to go out and pick up Crackdown for 360. I know I won't get a review copy, but I also know I'm running out of money and have plenty of other games to play. Also, buying Wii Play last week was probably a mistake.

Holy shit, I'm getting a review copy after all! I knew I couldn't get one from WorthPlaying because we already posted a review, and I honestly didn't expect Static to get one, but I hit up my editor and he said one just came in. Hot damn. I probably would have caved and bought it, too. Fuck, I may go buy it tomorrow and then just return the review copy.

after playing Wii-Play last night, yea, mistake. It just wasn't that good. If it wasn't for that "Pick Mii" game, there would have been very very little I really really dug about the game. The shooting game was kind neat, too. Other than that, bleh. Wii Sports still remains where it's at.

Wii:

Still playing Wii Sports every single day, so I'm hoping I at least enjoy Wii Play, gonna get it sometime this week. Haven't really gotten into Zelda much, I've had it two months now and I'm still in the very early bits of the game. Warioware is good, not nearly as good as the DS and GC versions though. Love the simple little multiplayer games, really wish the whole game would've been more multiplayer-centric.

Also Hotel Dusk on the DS is pretty fantastic.

Same here. I loved what I've played, but find myself stuck in the first dungeon, and too proud to go online to see where to go next. I've always found if you go so long without playing a game like Zelda, and then you try and pick it up again, you inevitably get stuck, and that's where I'm at.

So, like, if someone in here casually mentions what to do after you uncage the first three monkeys, I wouldn't hate you for it.
Asher Ford
I'm somewhere in the same dungeon I think. I'd say I'm stuck, but I really haven't tried too hard. My brother just played a bunch yesterday and beat some cool stuff, got the bow, has the iron boots etc. Looks pretty cool, I just don't know how much time I want to spend on it =/

I just bought it. I went out after midnight and unsuccessfully hit up two Meijers looking for it last night. The review copy probably won't be here until next week, but I've got the time now, so I'm going to dive into it tonight! I'll just return the review copy or eBay it or something or other.

If you beat Freebird, Jordan shouldn't be all that difficult.

Zelda is great. All you folks who haven't gotten into the game just yet, just keep playing and you won't regret it. As for the monkeys, I remember getting stuck in the same spot, getting frustrated, and thinking "fuck this game". Just fight through it, and by all means, consult the FAQ! You'll pretty much need it to to get the Master Sword.

One of my buddies already has 4-star Strength, and before that, he unlocked the Achievement for taking down 150 people with melee attacks or thrown objects. So my guess is that you have to do a lot of ass-kicking. Gonna do some of that today.
Threadkiller
Yeah, i figured out that hand-to-hand combat is the fastest way to boost Strength. Better yet, i like to do a little combination move: run up to an enemy, punch him in the stomach, and then shoot him in the face while he is on the ground. Not only does this make you feel like a total badass, but it also boosts both firearms skills and strength.

Aside: I just got two of the coolest (and most rewarding) achievements thanks to Crackdown. For the first one, climb to the very top of the Agency building (hint: it is the really fucking huge building in the centre of the city.) Once you get to the top, take a moment to absorb the beauty of the city before base jumping off the top into the lake below for another achievement. It was a great little moment in the game, and one which was strangely rewarding. Freefalling in videogames, especially when a game is this vertical (i swear i fell for like 15-20 seconds) is the shit.

I don't play PC games, but what about the Elder Scrolls games? Oblivion is the newest, but Morrowind only precedes it by four years or so.

i'm thinking about something that's just a mouse-click type of game. "broke sword" type of game. something that i can play for a long time, not too time consuming. and not addictive.

anybody familiar with "myst" series?
Andyroo
Fellow Crackheads - aside from the agility/hidden orbs, are there other ways to raise your Agility rating? It's been slow going... I only need about 10 points to reach the third level, but the orbs I'm getting are doing damn near nothing.

I did hit four stars in power, though. As soon as you become strong enough to kill most dudes with a single jump-kick, it's on.

So I just got a copy of Supreme Commander. Not quite as good as I was expecting. It's got some really innovative elements. The ability to monitor thousands of units across an enormous battlefront is just awesome. Dual monitor support should be standard on all RTS from now on. The sheer scale of the game is at once breathtaking and completely overwhelming. Yet the gameplay feels more like a throwback to classic RTS games such as Total Annihilation, StarCraft or Tiberian Sun. A great deal of emphasis must be placed on economy and base building. Not a bad thing, per se. It's just hard to watch your units idly standing around while being shot up. Especially after playing Company Of Heroes.

Resistance is a mediocre game and in no way overhauls anything within the FPS genre. That's complete nonsense.

Resistance is probably the only game worth $60, as far as exclusives. Virtua Fighter 5 and Ridge Racer 7 are also varying degrees of great, but VF5 is light on content and RR7 is somewhat of a retread of RR6 (360).

NBA 2K7 - Yes. I assume you're talking about the PS2 versions; GameRankings has NBA above 80%, but College Hoops is below 70%. Derek loved the Xbox 360 version, but I'm guessing that the PS2 one saw a pretty fair drop in quality. Check some reviews if you're unsure.

i did love ncaa 2k7. i found it a nice variation on the nba version. it had a surprising amount of depth in the legacy/career mode. if i were to chose between the two, i think i would inevitably take ncaa, at least at this juncture. the legacy mode, while frustrating at times, i tons of fun. hell, i watched the week end "college game day with bryant gumble" show they have in the game. nothing is more fun than watching the tourney selection segment they have. so stupid, but so fun.

Played through the whole thing. It's pretty mediocre compared to say HL2, F.E.A.R, R6, GRAW, Battlefield or even Prey. At least Prey was creative from a level design standpoint. It's one thing to say one enjoyed Resistance (I did to a degree) but it is quite another to say Resistance "overhauls" the genre.

Come now. Can you name even one innovation in Resistance other than graphical?
Andyroo
It definitely owes a lot to Half-Life 2. I liked Resistance more than Prey, but Prey was pretty great. I started F.E.A.R. for 360 a couple weeks back and just was not digging it. Does it pick up after a while? It felt really dated for some reason.

If its an option, try F.E.A.R for the PC and skip the 360 version entirely. I played the PC version first, and then later rented a copy of it for 360, and thats the same impression that i had. Something about it just seemed dated, which was definitely not the case when i played it on my computer. Most of it might be graphical though. The core gameplay, regardless of the version, is very 1999 (albeit with a few interesting additions to the story which elevate it slightly.)
