i have wondered this for a while, is there a reason that people use YSI over Rapidshare?

Perhaps they were on tour.

I was afraid of that. I was listening to some of the live stuff and nothing jumped out. Considering Jack White is more of a live performer, it kinda scared me a little bit. I guess those fears were warranted, no?
Jack White is always good live IMHO. He could be evolving into a Dead/Allman brothers type artist where the later period studio stuff lacks but live it's great.

look who it is you're talking to...
it's a solid album imo (7-7.5 or so after 2 listens)
is it amazing? nah. will it be in my top 25 come year end? possibly, def not a top 10 or anything, but can't say i expected it to be either really.

seriously, come on any of the other forums i'm on, and you'll see how often i get bitched at because i HATE everything...
i think it's just compared to the jaded hipsters on this board that i like a lot of stuff/genres/albums, compared to the average music listener i'm pretty damn picky myself.
i think the thing is, i don't expect every album to blow me away, i don't expect every album that i'm gonna love to be a 9-10, which i think is a lot of people's problem on here. for many it seems like if it's not album of the year material upon 1 or 2 listens, that it's therefore not worth listening to/bothering. some of my favorite albums in a given year i wouldn't give much more than a 7-7.5 to in the grand scheme of things, doesn't make me love them any less.

People are just looking for something they really connect with. And if they find it once or twice a year, that's just more great stuff to add to the collection.
I see your point. But then shouldn't one exorcize the crap songs on the album, while remarking on what is good?

as for albums/artists that i "hate" (hate is a fairly strong word, let's say dislike/not too big on), mostly recent stuff, as it's more fresh in my head:
The Streets
MIA
Kanye West
Annie
Fiery Furnaces (mostly just the last 2 after the EP)
Animal Collective
The Futureheads (i dig 'em somewhat, but the first album got pretty old for me after about a month, but they're pretty widely loved on SOMB)
Joanna f'n Newsome
Antony
LCD Soundsystem (again, decent, but not overly crazy for 'em)

As Lucious Phil suggested, people could switch over to posting things on Rapidshare . . . Yeah, non-members can only DL once per hour, but with the increased capacity, most albums can be posted as a single RAR file. The tradeoff is that unless a file gets reported (which happens), it can be up there for as many downloads as is needed . . . what makes the file disappear is NOT downloading it!
A'course, there is a charm to the ephemerality of YS links, but it aint so charming when you feel snaked about picking up a tasty new prerelease.

2? Has the one after "Throw Grandma From The Album" already leaked?
As much as I liked "Gallowsbird Bark", the EP seemed to me 200% better than anything else they had ever done. And then there was their cover of Norweigan Wood which ranks in my mind among the worst Beatles covers ever, if only because the changes they made added nothing and the band is capable of so much better. Ah, wasted potential.
The other cover that is bugging me lately: Sex Pistols' demo of "Substitute" off of the remastered Bollocks. Sure, you don't have to sing the notes of the original if you don't want, but does Johnny even know what note he's not aiming for?

shimmy, i at least found Feels much more listenable than f'n Sung Tongs, that's for damn sure, but i didn't like more than a couple songs on it, and not enough to warrant more than a few listens all the way through.
re: Blueberry, i liked about half the record i'd say... i really only like their pure pop stuff. the disjointed/bashing on piano/changing song structures & sounds every 15 seconds/musical ADD stuff bugs the shit outta me.
The Streets... i guess i can understand the appeal, but his accent annoys me (no offense to our UK brethren) and i'm not big on storytelling stuff. the only parts about his music i like really are a few enjoyable choruses (Dry Your Eyes for one), but his beats don't really interest me much either.

yeah Bitter Tea leaked quite a while back (you can actually purchase it at their shows now too). it's def more listenable than Rehearsing, but still not all that great imo. doesn't have nearly as much all out pop stuff like the EP, and when it does it's interlaced w/ the type of stuff i'm not too big on.

I've listened to Broken Boy Soldiers twice now and I'f put it in my top 15 of the year easy. All the music it references is stuff I love. They are obviously having a lot of fun on it and they are trying out domething slightly different but in the same ball park on each song and nothing outstays it's welcome. The rhythm section is very tight and plays like LZ on "Steady, As She Goes" but are a lot looser elsewhere.
The best thing the songs have going for them is that White's sound like The Stones and Benson's are Beatle-esque and the mix in one album is really great. There are touches of The Band, Traffic, Free, Queen, Santana and The Animals on it.
Not the best album of the year but already one of my favourites. Sounds like Let It Be might have done if The Beatles were gettin on. (Esp "Yellow Sun")
