I was thinking "Rice Vinegar For Housewives In 2006."

It has a certain ring to it.

Is it just me or is the lyrics of Brendan Benson just really underwhelming? I saw him open for someone years ago and wasn't impressed, and hearing his contributions here sounds very similar. It's not cringeworthy or anything, it's just very ordinary and not all that interesting. Jack's background vocals and I'm going to assume song arrangements keep the songs sounding pretty good.

I think we need a poll thread to decide the name for the new fake ysi thread.

I don't think so, unless it takes a while for google to stop indexing it. Google YSI albums and this thread is the second or third site listed.

that's cuz it's already indexed, it'll take quite some time to fall out of the index (if ever). new threads will not be indexed... (hint hint)

have you seen somewhere that lists who wrote what yet? or are you just going buy sings what song? cuz i've heard Jack wrote a lot of the lyrics, even songs he doesn't sing (and maybe vice versa, dunno). Brendan's lyrics aren't that great, no, but i've never though Jack White to be too great of a lyricist either truth be told...

Brendan comes from the Beatles school of songwriting & melody, and that's why i love him so much. like i've stated many times before, One Mississippi is f'n amazing. i'd take it over any Stripes record hands down.

A new eight-track St. Elsewhere promo just leaked... I'm getting it really slowly, doubt I'll be able to YSI it tonight. Heads-up if anyone else wants to do it.

That first song on the Delays album does it for me every time. The rest of the album is certainly enjoyable enough, but for me it never again reaches the heights of "You and Me."

agreed. "You and Me" will likely be one of my favorite tracks of the year, but the album as a whole is just solid.

this isn't leaked as it came out a while ago in the u.k., but it is 2006 so i thought i'd put it in this thread rather than the other one. great little pop record, the beach boys and the beta band are two of the major influences as far as i can see.

The new Carina Round has leaked. Produced by Glenn Ballard, which had me skeptical, but it's not too bad, a big, full-sounding PJ-ish album (no surprise), with little electronic/synth touches.

OK. 380 posts.

Does it matter. Really.

I mean, do we need an overlord for the "we are buying/stealing shit and sharing it with others" thread? Come on.

I mean, I have only a handful of posts myself--but this is like what, the 4th generation of this message board for me--but some kind folks were cool enough to re-post the Raconteurs and the Delays the other day when I asked. Yo stroboscopia! I only have the Artic Monkeys tracks, however they are on my PC at home. I will be sure to upload and post a link to them later tonight. Promise.

check their myspace...if you like their first single "Young Shields," then you'll most likely enjoy the whole album. i am honestly lost for a description...maybe you can help. personally, i describe CFTPA as bedroom electronica, kinda similar to some of Chad Vangaalen's stuff (if you are familiar with him). it has very personal- and often painfully melancholic- lyrics overtop simple electronic beats.

ALSO: when exploring the blogosphere recently (i think it was GvB to be exact), i came across a band called Goodnight & Goodnight. they are really quite good, if you can tolerate the vocalist (which can be difficult sometimes). regardless, fans of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Wolf Parade should definitely check them out. ive posted three tracks from the upcoming EP below, but if you wanna hear the tracks first, you can do so here.

i like the way you handled that...i hate it when people just download stuff (through YSI that is) and eat up the link only to delete it right after. that takes away from those who really would appreciate the music. (ok, so ive deleted an album that i downloaded once, but it was Without Feathers, and honestly, who coulda predicted that it would be THAT bad...gaaah mellow.gif )

Call me odd but I actually really like the vocalist. I don't know. It just works for some reason. In a weird way, I don't know why, but there's a hint of Thom Yorke in the sun hits her face. I'm sure most people won't hear it, but it sticks out to me.

i agree about the vocalist. i think his voice works well with the music, especially on "Ghosty Ghost" (my favorite track). i just pointed that out because early buzz on the band warned about his voice being annoying (only on the track "1915" do i find i kinda agree). btw, i too kinda hear Yorke in his voice.
