i heard good things about their last one. how's the new one?

i've only had the chance to listen through it once, but i liked it quite a bit. it's the same basic stuff as the last one. nice, melodic, girl vocal indie pop. it's totally my thing, so i don't know if i'm the best person to judge this stuff objectively, i knew i'd like it before putting it on.

listening to it right now, and yeah, it's pretty much the way you describe it. it's enjoayble, but not something that i'm looking for this year in terms of music.

Thanks, downloading now. I was disappointed to have missed them at sxsw this year. But I just saw yesterday that they're planning a US tour in July. Here's hoping Chicago gets a proper club set and not just an appearance at one of the festivals.

i was at just the right age (13) when Californication came out, and even though I don't listen to it amuch nymore, I still have some very fond memories of that album, save Around the World. Frontloaded, but still a lot of fun to listen to when yo uwant to keep everyone happy.

By the Way was an overwhelming disappointment. But the last few Frusicante records have been pretty great, I expect good things from at least the first half of this album.

edit: btw, does someone have a good sounding copy mp3 of Dani California off hand? the one in this rip sounds really poor for some reason (125kbps??), the rest sounds really good for being 128kbps AAC tho.

I think the quality is actually excelent for a first leak. The only one with low quality is Dani California, but we've all heard it before.

while i dug a handful of tracks on disc 1 of the new RHCP, and didn't really outright dislike much of it, starting disc 1 right now, can't help but feel this record will suffer from just too much material, good or bad, regardless.

That's a definate possibility, but i would have to say that at least for right now, i'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Agreed with b, but i'm not complaining. The fact that there are more songs just makes it more to discover, regardless of what it may do to the album as a whole.

I fuckin love this album. I think if the whole album was 17 tracks and 80 minutes long then it would rival BSSM but there are so many good tracks on both disc's. Good stuff!!

In todays ability to buy just buy some tracks from albums, and so on, I can see many people just making their own shorter versions of this album. Not saying im not bloody loving it, but theres big range of chili styles going on.

No it makes perfect sense. I think I'm planning on splitting this baby into two albums. A funk / experimental album and a ballad album.
