Just converting the files but having looked at the tracklisting properly now I noticed that #8 is called "Harrowdown Hill" which is where the body of Dr. David Kelly was found in 2003.

Quickly listening to tracks 1, 6, and 7 before leaving for the Fall. Meh. Sad that this guy hasn't excited me in 5 years, especially considering the 5 years prior (As a side note, I have a feeling I'll be saying the same thing about MES in about 4 hours)

I'm half way through, It's pretty much what I expected nothing outstanding but a few really good moments and not unlistenable or anything. "Skip Divided" is the first song that has done nothing for me so far. Expect me to expand on this but they things I've thought of so far are; Amneisac B-Sides, Four Tet, Björk and Neu.

yeah, that's kinda my assessment as well, def worth checking out, but just really makes me want a new RH record even more now, which maybe that was his idea

Of course people are bound to complain about it being a "bleepy bloopy" record but none of those accusations were thrown at Johnny for using the OM on Bodysong.

Does anyone know if there is a leak for the new Mojave 3 out yet? Has anyone heard it? I sampled some of the songs off Amazon and it sounds pretty good. Very different, not low key stoner stuff, more poppy.

but hes the biggest slowdive/mojave fan i have seen so, i dont know what that could mean

Diet Kid A was a pretty accurate assessment someone made, as a lot of the beats on here sound a bit generic/tired, and like they could have easily come from those sessions. i'd say i def prefer this to Amnesiac right off the bat though, no question

Just curious if Yorke will ever go back to writing more cohesive lyrics again, that's prolly been my biggest complaint about their change post OKC, not really the experimental/electronic stuff, is the repetitive/cryptic lyrics.

i think it's fantastic....everyone will slag it off and put it up againt radiohead albums

i think it stands as a really good album on its own

i am just finishing listning to it and i will probley listen to it again right now

stand out tracks for me are the eraser, black swan and harrowdown hill

i know someone mentioned something about not being impressed with skip divided, at first listen i would say its the weakest track

but overall, i am pretty happy with it and its what i expected it to be

it def is what i expected, that's for sure, for better or worse

i'm not even comparing it to Radiohead, cuz if i did i'd easily take it over Amnesiac for sure.

hmm..well..in non-Eraser related news, it's only a matter of time before we get the new Cursive single..they're shipping them out on the 27th of June. I want it now though...
I don't think I'm going to miss the cello as much as I thought I would, they've added a 5 peice brass section headed by Nate Walcott (of Bright Eyes) that apparently creates crashing and booming and honking noises. I think it sounds amazing.

Hmm. i was under the impression that Cursive broke up. i'm not sure why. Oh well, it's good to know that they haven't. The cello will be missed; their old, pre-cello stuff just isn't the same. As for Yorke's record, yes, Diet Kid A sounds pretty accurate. It's about as good as i thought it would be, which isn't great, but certainly isn't bad either. Much better than Corgan's solo record, which is the last precedent i had for solo records.

Makes me much more excited about a new Radiohead album, though...Can't believe we'll have to wait till 2007...

Does anyone know whether converting these 192kbps M4A files to 192kbps MP3 will degrade the quality?

Converting any lossy source to another lossy source, even at same bitrate, will always reduce the audio quallity. I highly doubt you will be able to tell though.

Initially I like this... I agree with Solace that it's not great. The one thing I hope is that this will get this sound out of Thom's system for the next Radiohead album. If that's the case then this album is great.

This is why I love the SOMB and this thread. I don't know how I would have heard of Silversun Pickups, much less heard their music. I'm sure there are a lot of regulars and lurkers alike who are clicking here hoping for the next Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam, RHCP, megastar-type leaks to drop. Me, I'm dwelling in the murkier underworld, seeking out the new and up-and-comers that I might not otherwise hear or take a chance on.

Silversun Pickups is exactly my sort of thing: harder-edged, melodic, song-based, male-female vocal interplay and guitars that crunch and fizz and fuzz. And it's through the good people on this board that I've come across the likes of this, Serena-Maneesh, Voxtrot, Autolux and others that I might not otherwise heard and ultimately went out and purchased or saw live. So kudos to Alky, and anybody else who I've pilfered downloads from.

Regarding the album, i don't really like it but then again i was never a Xiu Xiu fan. I honestly don't see the appeal... and i like to think of myself as very open-minded about music. I can find things to like in almost any artist that isn't Phil Collins or Sting or some shit like that. I guess that's unfair, cause i don't really hate Xiu Xiu, but i've come to terms with the fact they're just not my cup of tea.

i really like the album... not as good as fab muscles, but much better than la foret... save me and soprano boy are amazing.
