ahhh ok. i saw the pitchfork article on it today and remembered i was interested in it at one juncture, so i figured i would search.

He sings on more than he used to. I liked the little changes of pace offered by Blag Dahlia and my man Stahl. 'Nova' was well interesting.

do you guys think that the new secret machines is really good? I like every single track. (ten silver drops=eight tracks....weird)

great album!

so far i don't like any single track nearly as much as Road Leads or First Wave from the first full length, but it is pretty solid overall. the first one had a lot of great tracks, but a few tracks that lulled me to sleep as well.

Agreed. Much brighter than the first one. However, the drums aren't as high in the mix as I would like. The first one had a huge drum sound, and I miss it dearly.

it's really great. surprised it took so long to leak tho, promos went out almost a month ago. guess there's just not a ton of interest there either anymore

Yeah, it does seem odd that they'd lose one of the things that made them sound different. Unless, of course, that was their goal.

I'll listen to it again and then delete it and wait patiently for the release.

First listen and this album is SOUNDING GREAT!!!

Only reservation/worry is that it'll wear thin fast as schtick. But on first listen, it's TONS OF FUN!!!

yeah, the first one is even better, but you're right, it's shelf life isn't very long, but still totally enjoyable all the same.

okay, i've calmed down. it was just the first few tracks that REALLY grabbed me. but it's still fun stuff.

I'm an idiot, I listened to it with headphones yesterday and it's more like a White Stripes meets QOTSA / Zeppelin vibe. Colossal, Woman, Joker & the Thief, Dimension, there's some really good tracks on here. This could end up being my DFA1979 of 2006.

I completely disagree. I mean, 100% disagree. BUT, I know there are going to be some people upset with it because it's different. The vibe is definitely closer towards the mainstream. I just happen to think most of the songs are very catchy. I like that.

They have an EP coming out on Interscope, but I don't know what's on that. Seems rather pointless, as the full-length debut is all over the internet right now. And I've got to say, the more I hear it, the more I realise it's one very solid album. Sabbath to the core, but with touches of Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge, and Cream. No Darkness style winking, either...they write songs about unicorns and gnomes, and dammit, they mean it. Total straight face, which you've got to love. I had no idea how huge they are in Australia right now.
