I found that I just don't "get" the appeal of Shoe Shoe. I bought "Muscles" actually right away based on hype and all and it just never clicked with me. I have to say, though, that "Crank Heart" and "I Luv the Valley, OH!" are two totally amazing tracks and they got me really excited for the disc. But then after that, it just tapered off to being creepy and noisy and weird. Then when I got to "Support Our Troops" I just went insane I think and realized if I were to ever play this for anyone I knew, they would probably never speak to me again just because it was so graphic.

Regardless, though, I'll still give this and its eerrie album cover a try. I think the two singles that leaked are pretty alright, so couldn't hurt to give the full thing a spin.

Have you guys really never seen any art from the past 2000 years? Pictures of Jesus in pain are pretty common, I don't understand why this one is ruffling feathers.

I have. I took a whole course on Christian art this past semester, in fact. It's creepy for me just because of the music assosciated with it.

I agree that the cover for The Air Force is creepy, but i too think a large part of its creepiness stems from the music associated with it. Xiu Xiu has always addressed ultra-personal issues (like the song Brian the Vampire, which supposedly addresses child molestation) by juxtaposing them against other somewhat disparate ideas (vampire=child predator). In that sense, the cover is thought-provoking, although hardly shocking.

I tried adding that track to my ipod and it freaked out and added like a bunch of 1-2 second files between track 5 and 6. I swear that happened. It was weird. Either that or it was the drugs.

Must have been the drugs then, because that definitely didn't happen to me. The whole album (all 7 tracks of it ) work perfectly on my ipod.

Apparently the Lily Allen album has leaked. I guess she's the MIA of this year or something, but I can't find the album anywhere as yet....

i have about 10 of her demos, ever since Ben posted about her. she's all right, but not at all like MIA, neither stylistically, nor do i think she will be as popular...she's way too young and bubblegummy (even though some of her lyrics are refreshingly vulgar, i like that about her)

I stand corrected. All I know is there's been some hype in Pitchforkland/blogs about her and I've been too lazy to check her out. The combination of bubblegum and vulgarity makes me more interested though.
