their from new york, i think.

first album is very very lo-fi folky stuff. this new one really helps their sound due to the bigger production values and arrangements. there are a lot of little details in these songs. definitely a record that rewards on repeat listens.

here is one song off the new one if you want a good sample of their (new) sound:

Just listened to that one mp3 you posted, but hot damn, you weren't lying Sim. This is right up my alley. Fun, varied rhythms, great melodies that dance around each other, big shifts in tempo and style...

If the rest of the album is as good as this one song, oooh weee, I'll be a happy little neo-psych-freak-folk lovin' boy.

the first person to defend dashboard, none other then my arch enemy "emo queen"

Honestly, I could give a fuck what band he was looking for... it was the uneccessary response that bothered me. Most people on this board are pretty good about respecting other people's tastes, no matter how much they may disagree. And if they do question them, its usually in the form of a challenge or some way to understand how/why they like something others regard as shit. Responses like yours add absolutely nothing to this community, let alone making you come across as an ignorant fuck.

I don't know why I'm bothering explaining all this though, because considering your past responses you aren't likely to change your ways. But with that type of shit, don't expect people lining up to fill your y'all send the thing requests or anything.

P.S. If I was the true "emo queen", as you so eloquently put it (because we all know "emo" = homosexual, just ask Guy Picciotto), I would have the Dashboard album to offer him. But I don't.

Fake Edit - It is kinda cool to have an arch enemy though. But to tell you the truth I always wanted an arch nemesis instead. Just sounds cooler.

I think an arch-nemesis has to provide some intellectual competition for you. I had been grooming Nick as an arch-nemesis, but then recently I grew to respect him, and then to really enjoy his posts. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

I consider Good Dr. Bill to be my arch nemesis on the board, or Efrim, they both suck.

Well said, Alky. I don't really see the point of bashing people and their tastes in music. What does anyone have to gain by that? It's definitely not entertaining and it doesn't stimulate any intelligent discussion.

OK, so here is the plan.
If by tomorrow afternoon the new mountain Goats has not leaked, we will all then (collectively) think this phrase at 4 p.m. (central, so i dunno, that's i suppose 5 pm eastern), "The New Mountain Goats will leak... now!" (pause one second for each period.)

This way we can all be listening to the new Goats album by 5 pm and be happy people.

This has to be my most anticipated of the year. Sunset Tree = top three of this decade, and I hope that he manages a way to at least equal it. I doubt he will just because I think half the brilliance of Sunset Tree is the subject matter and lyrical intensity, but I would still like to be surprised.
