ok so I really want the new Mars Volta to just completely leak..
so far there is
Meccamputechture
Vicarious Atonement
Vermicide
Asilos Magdalena
and a supposed 2min 22sec "preview" of Day of the Baphomets though it's hard to tell if it's really them due to no vocals
I'm really enjoying Meccamputechture

I've heard so far:
Vermicide
Asilos Magdalena
and don't plan on hearing any more until the full album leaks. this one track a day thing is killing me.

Just got done listening to the first disc after one listen my impression is it's just like bitter tea only without eleanor and not as good. He's not really breaking any new ground here it's very much a Furnaces record. I was kinda hoping he'd explore some avenues the Furnaces haven't gone down yet. Granted I do still like it very much even if it is just more of the same.

did i read right that Frusciante played all of the guitars on this record? think i read that Omar taught him all the guitar parts and he played them, so he could focus on recording it.

Not leaked, but relatively new and just really, really good. Indie rock of course, but with a shoegazy, dreampop, literate feel. There's still room on the bandwagon.

I saw some "meh..." responses about the new J-5 album... I've listened to it three times so far and have to say that this is their best to date. Sure they have that third track that sounds like BEP. But if that song is the single and draws all the teenie-bop fans back to intelligent hip-hop then good for them. I'm all for them making some money. Hell... I even like the song with DMB... yeah I said it... so what?
If you haven't given this a listen yet you're missing out. Every track is excellent with the exception of two and three.

Yeah, I basically agree.
I'm listening to "Rehearsing My Choir" right now . . . I wanted to hear it, since the whole premise seems too easy to make fun of without listening to it, but now I understand that making fun of it is necessary. I can't put my finger on exactly why Grandma Friedberg's vocals drive me the wrong way up the wall, but they do. Arrangement and lyric-wise, it seems like a normal FF record, blending occasional lyrical lucidity with non-sequitors and unnecessary rhymes, but if only there was a remixed version without Grandma . . .

gotta say yancy, his music aside (i don't mind it, not in love with it, but don't hate him or anything), that is a really dumb name, even with the Bowie reference
