was just about to post it myself...

its great and all, but I wish the comedy was there more. seems like they don't wanna make another"fire" album right now, just good songs and less on the tongue-in-cheek lyrics. still there is some funny moments and I like it better than the last one I think.

Yeah, it's definetely not as funny as the last 2 albums, but overall quality-wise I think it's leaps and bounds ahead of everything else they've done. It's much less of a novelty and more of just a really good pop album. But Pitchfork will still hate it.

i'm a bit of a lurker, but hey, i'll help where i can... i've got about 40,000 mp3s on the ol' external harddrive, and sendspace is blazing for me these days... any requests?

Los Lobos have settled into a solid and competent level of roots-rock. Which is disappointing considering that in the 1990s I thought that they were one of the very best bands going, with the songcraft of The Neighborhood and the sonic explorations of Kiko and Colossal Head. They're too good musicians to make a bad album, but like The Road and Good Morning Aztlan before it, there's too little to distinguish it. "The City" is a great song, and David Hidalgo slow burns on guitar as usual. But Cesar Rosas and Steve Berlin are barely audible (Cesar sings just the two en espanol songs). Most of the material is vaguely about the immigrant experience, but it never gets angry nor celebratory about it. Which means the songs are kind of just there.

So doesn't that just want to make you download it right now?!?

It looks like track 10: Sons and Daughters is completly missing as well....but even still very happy to finally get to hear most of this thanks for posting.

4 Tracks in and i'm loving this...the long 2nd song was amazing. Yankee Bayonet the duet with Petra is also really doing it for me.

First listen of the 8/10 songs actually posted...it's in my top 5 for the year. I really can't believe how good this is. Actually I can believe it. Decemberist haters will go on about sea chanteys and glee club crap, but the fact of the matter is Colin Meloy's sense of storytelling, melody and arrangement is probably without peer right now. Yeah, you have to get past his voice, but I have, and once you do you'll hear a band that is hitting on all cylinders.

I lust after those other two songs (and the end of "Summersong" for that matter).

Yeah amazing album definitly gonna end up in my top 10 for the year can't wait to hear the rest of it.

tracks 9 & 10 are pretty great, i'd wait for the full thing if you can

but yeah, it is pretty damn solid, dunno about top 5 or even 10 for me, but def makes up for the last one imo
