Of Montreal fan #6 would like to thank Jordan for this... never seen them in concert (in fact, the only E6 band I ever saw was Beulah), but I still think they're brilliant. And I'm not even a girl!

i like of montreal too, but then again, i am a girl. i saw them last night for the fourth time, they're so much fun. thanks for this remix thing.

i find myself getting more and more annoyed by of montreal. and i dont know why. satanic panic and sunlandic twins more so than gay parade, cherry peel etc.

My allegiance to the pro-Meloy/Decemberists contingent on this board is well-documented. But I sort of agree here (so far, anyway). There's no "Engine Driver" or "Red Right Ankle" on this one. Usually after their albums, there's been a song or a melody that just completely takes over my brain. I remember when I first got into them, my head just looped "Take a long drive with me-ee-ee..... California one....." for days.

There is an interesting, groovy, almost-classic rock, '70s FM vibe that creeps into parts (Island, Perfect Crime) of this album. I kinda like that, but I'm just not sure the songs are good enough competition for Meloy's best moments from previous efforts. Meloy's still a damn good songwriter, though.

the full Decemberists album supposedly just leaked on OiNK. Not sure if it's the genuine article yet, still downloading.

sounds a lot like Ben Gibbard on backing vocals in the right channel of the last song, but not sure

I'm sure that cover will swing the naysayers.

Who knows, maybe its just the vocals I heard sw-swallowed by the whale which is mildly akward, but either way THANK YOU!

i'd give it a shot, even if you totally hated their other records, this one really is different at times (track 2 for one, Yes meets Pink Floyd), but if it's Colin's voice you dislike, then maybe not.

I'll listen to it before year end, really not fussed right now.

You really think it's anything notable? They've always struck me as one of those Tapes n Tapes, Figurines, etc. bands minus the hooks. Maybe you have to be into guitars and/or noodling or something.
