Honestly the best solution would be to make a new subforum on these forums with a mask that makes it so that only registered users can view that subforum. Then, I'm not sure about with IPB forums, but with vBulletin there's a script where you can make a tag that only people who have posted in that thread already can view the contents of that tag. In summary:
A new subforum made that only registered users can see. Then for each album posted, there's a thread for that album. In order to see the link for that album, they have to post in the thread. A bit complicated yes, but it's the optimal solution.
My two (overcomplicated) cents.

I can't really be bothered to PM a link to 20 people. If anything, my complaint with this thread is that it's hard to find stuff/know what's leaked because half the posts are "this is blocked/PM me/re-up that plz". I like it when there's a thread that says 'oh hey this leaked' and then we talk about it and stuff.

I do agree that it's a pain to PM the link. That's exactly why I didn't propose that everyone does it.

and, as part of your initiation, all newbies must send a pm to LBJ, introducing yourself.
LBJ is sort of the "Big Papa" of the board and loves getting to know the "freshman class." you can always count on him for guidance or help.
just send him a short bio....plus a list of your favorite bands, your interests, hobbies, goals, dreams...even poems and/or short stories.....be creative!

My point was that I'm starting to think this thread shouldn't have YSIs in it anymore. If you read my post again you'll notice I never said a thing about lurkers. But since you brought it up, all the YSing is attracting a bunch of people who basically do nothing but ask for YSIs, or one or two themselves so they can use it to legitimize the YSI requests they then go on to make. And I'm sure there is an even greater number who download without even registering.
I'm not trying to take a shot at you personally, since you've at least attempted to actually discuss music in your posts (albiet almost soley in this thread). It's directed at all the people who do nothing but ask for uploads or just leech without posting a thing.
Well, I lurk on any number of boards. I dunno, it's kind of like walking into a club: I can sit at the bar & hear the music but I don't feel like getting up & moving towards the stage. Chances are, I like the tunes as much as the person down in front and god knows I'm not alone.
I actually could contribute to uploading some advances but don't have the first clue how to (one of those dolts that have a PC primarily to connect to the 'net. as to how to do more than that...you got me..).
Seems to me that if you're posting in a public forum, for whatever reason, realize that not everyone is going to use the boards in the same way, or at least, the way you want them to.

Jazz influenced album that's out now in Norway and will be out here in a couple weeks. More traditional rock album to follow later this year. Minor Detail is a beautiful song, and there are a couple of covers as well, such as Night and Day and Elvis Costello's Human Hands. Track 12 is a little fucked up in terms of how it's ripped I think.

God forbid he drop by Chicago and do a show. Gomez is skipping Chicago as well on their mini three-piece tour this month. For being the what, third largest market in America, we seem to get skipped over sometimes, it's frustrating. Sure, we'll be included for full scale tours, but I like the warm up shows too.
