the blocked YSI was the new Embrace album I think. Which, by the way, is quite good if thats your thing.

I love it. Much better than Pretty Toney. Only one song I really don't like ("Momma") and most of the skits are short enough to not be annoying.

I hate the fact a lot of these rappers feel they MUST have these skits on their albums! They're rarely funny, they are never worth playing more than once and they interrupt the whole flow of the album. You're rappers, not comedians ffs!

Rant over.

Pass. I've heard skits by the best of them. They just don't do anything for me and i consider them a waste of space. Just give me the good stuff...and hurry! No need for comedy. If i listen to a rap album i expect to hear rap and beats, not Richard Pryor wannabes.

Definitely. There is nothing worse than skits -- good, bad, fucking horrible -- to ruin a hip-hop album.

Most Serene Republic - Phages (Tour only EP)

IPB Image

I know there was at least a couple of you that dug the Arts & Crafts affiliated Most Serene Republic's debut album, Underwater Cinematographer, so I'm assuming someone might want to check this out. It's called an EP, but its almost more like a mini-album than anything else. Not sure if this will ever get some kind of full release, but it deserves to be heard. After the first listen I think it could even be better than Underwater.

so i just stumbled across Hand on String, the new album by Mike Andrews, better known as the guy who scored Donnie Darko and Me and You and Everyone We Know, and im wondering why the hell there isnt more hype surrounding this album. quite frankly, it is stunning. from what ive heard, this is up there with the best of the year so far, imho. it is mellow, jazzy and dark, which is an odd combination that works wonderfully. it is reminiscent of Andrew Bird, Smog and Nick Drake, among others. does anyone know if the complete album has leaked? have a listen and maybe you will get as excited as i am...

Yeah, this isn't new per-say. It came out about a year ago in Europe and now is finally being released state side. And from what I remember of it, it was a huge disappointment. Nowhere near as good as "Fire."

But regardless, I am hella pumped for the show.

Lacuna Coil - Karmacode
hxxps://s4.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=18GE1O20H2D1R2NOSM8YLT0IHF

One of the year's most anticipated metal releases. The fourth album (their first in nearly three years) by the Italian band is good, solid, melodic goth metal. Best comparison for new listeners would be to Evanescence, but Lacuna Coil are one of the originators of the male-female vocal style, and take a more classy, darker approach. There's a surprisingly good cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence". Try it out.
