I've been waiting for this built to spill for about a year now. I wont be able to download it until like 1am tonight or something cause of this college network. pplease report back as to how good it is. and the TV on the Radio you hear is supposedly the final product or close to if it's the same thing. very good in my opinion but not as good as that damn EP still.

Anyone have the new Sondre Lerche? I'm hearing it's a change in style to "jazzy pop," complete with upright bass and brush drumming, so I'm not sure I should plunk down my $$ until I hear it. It certainly sounds like a disappointing follow-up to Two Way Monologue.

I wouldn't consider this a proper follow up to Two Way Monologue. If you know Sondre, you know he has a healthy obsession with Elvis Costello. You know how Costello puts out vanity projects from time to time (My Flame Burns Blue, collabs with Bacharach, Juliet Letters), I kinda see Duper Sessions in a similar way. He's got the more traditional rock album out later this year, so I would consider that the Two Way follow up. I would enjoy this for what it is: a jazzy record with some beautiful songs (Minor Detail), and cool covers, like Costello's Human Hands. He's just spreading his wings a bit.

Not sure if anyone wants/needs this, but here's the new Hawksley Workman, Treeful of Starling. It's a solid album, but unfortunately continues along the lines of Lover/Fighter (even moreso) of being less quirky and more straight forward, simplistic ballads. I'm really missing the Bowie-esque, rocker flare from the first two albums, though I like him enough to still be able to enjoy this for what it is.

hmm...it is a very good album but I'm gonna wait to pass judgement on this sucker right now. I want to get a few more listens in. some of the songs (Transition from Saturday into Wherever you go spesifically) are just wonderful but it definatly has a little bit of a different direction for them (a little more stadium rock with that same jam band attitude) I can really see myself loving this one as well (right under PFNO and maybe around the same spot as KILAS).

From what I've read, he's been simultaneously writing in 3 separate styles and this was the first of the "themed" stuff to come out of that. So maybe there's a whole slew of rocker stuff that will come out down the line. This guy still kicks ass no matter what he puts out.

yeah... they def had a few great songs on the last one, but boy did they ever annoy me live. i saw them 4 times, none by choice. 2 nights in a row opening or BSS, once w/ Metric & Sea Ray, and opening for Ryan Adams. they were pretty poser-ish live i thought.
the song on myspace has like a ton of organ and shit :-/
