What a great sports weekend thus far:
Saturday watched Hull vs. Sunderland, Arsenal vs. Chelsea & Barcelona vs. Getafe.
This morning watched the F1 race, the end of Spurs vs. Newcastle, Man United vs. Everton and have Lyon vs. Bordeux on right now.

I'm fine w/ the result. United still have to play Arsenal & Chelsea. Their match against Spurs could be tricky as well. I think if Liverpool win out they win the title at worse on goal difference. In fact, I hope they win on goal difference.

"Simples!"Despite the goal sequence I thought Arsenal were very lucky to come away from that game with anything.
I've got mixed feeling about the result. It was great to see the Baby-Faced Assassin Mark II bag four but I really hope those dropped points dont scupper the Pools title challenge.
Amazing spectacle regardless.

Fergie's latest attempt to fuck w/ Rafa looking even more sour and juvenile than usual. No question that Liverpool are the peoples champions this year even if they don't quite manage the real thing - which they should anyway with their run-in. The Albion should be good for six if nothing else.

They've already played Chelsea twice in the league (1-1,3-0)
Unless you mean in the CL final

I wish Newcastle and Spurs could switch spots. A relegated Spurs would mean we can finally get past hearing the close season talk that it is finally going to be the season they break into the top 4.
At halftime I was so certain United were getting ready to collapse entirely but now the title race is basically over.

I wish Portsmouth had been competent enough to score, but Newcastle going scoreless at home is amusing nonetheless. Liverpool next

One of the worst matches I've seen this year. Chelsea didn't even bother to try and play football.
And Guardiola subs Eto'o for Bojan only to see Bojan send a beautiful Alves cross two feet wide. Eto'o would have buried that in the back of the net.
Chelsea are done. They can't do this for another 90+ minutes. Barca will get an away goal and deservedly advance. Hiddink is going to get praised as some tactical genius when all he did was ask his squad to play anti-football.

Drawing 0-0 away from home in the first leg is never a good result for English clubs.

It wasn't good for Barca last year either.
I don't like how it looks.
Anyway, the most important match of the season is this weekend against Madrid.

I am sick and tired of English teams parking the bus when they play Barcelona. Then the English press act like they did something heroic. If any teams in the world can go to heard to head with Barcelona, you'd think it you would be Chelsea and Man United.
If Chelsea score first, then it's over. Expect more "heroic" 10 men in the box. *yawn*
If Barcelona score first, we might have ourselves some entertainment.
I have to give Real Madrid some respect though, they have the balls to actually come out and play.

first team to shut them out in the nou camp this season - your entertainment was not on the agenda

No doubt Chelsea did the right thing last night in terms of trying to win the tie, it's possible to have a rock solid defence and attack though. See AC Milan in the early 90's.
Still think they needed an away goal.
Bruegs
Apr 29 2009, 02:27 PM
To be fair, they scored 7 in the last round - horses for courses.
It’s funny that you mention that Milan dynasty as they were pretty much the living embodiment of that maxim. How many times did they shut up shop and scrape a late one in that 58 game streak?
Think you might be right about the away goal though - I wouldnt bet a against a team with a 90 goal strike force getting a couple at the bridge.

A few times, but they did attack late which is I guess better than nothing. They didn't play 9-0-1 though that's for sure.
This is interesting so far, Rooney seems to be playing as full back every now and again against the boy.

As great as Barca looked over the weekend I still picture a 1-0 Chelsea win at the Bridge. Real Madrid would be a mid-table side in the EPL.

No complaints about the result but a lot of complaints about the fundamental injustice of life.

I still think La Liga is overrated and that Barca would only be 3rd best in the Premier League over an entire season. But I will be supporting them all the way on the 27th.
