no age's new one. it's really, really good. i never heard the last record, but i'm liking this a whole lot. reminds me of a slightly cleaner times new viking if they tried some pretty ambient post-rock stuff along with the lo-fi gbv impression. halfway through and all but one song are better than good so far.

!!!

Were you sent a promo or did you download it from somewhere?

promo. and despite the hypocrisy, i can't bring myself to be the one to leak it. it's real good though. between that and islands, it's been a good weekend for music.

mid-may i think. a leak should be forthcoming, though the labels, indie included, have been much better at keeping things quiet (looking at you, r.e.m. and death cab).

with sub pop's track record, this won't be underwraps for too much longer.

Not entirely bad. Some cheesy lyrics, but much better than I remember it being.

growin on me:

like the last pig destroyer album, the lyrics on this one really add a new dimension to it.

I'm a lot bigger on this than I expected to be upon first listen -- been a big fan of the last two records, and though this one is almost completely dominated by Greta (the dude only sings lead on a couple tracks), her vocals are staggeringly improved and I can't help but love tracks like "The Boys Are Too Refined" and "Love You Much Better." Probably my favorite thing so far this year, though that doesn't mean a whole ton at this point. Still, been getting a lot of play from me.

well, I'm not exactly sure at this point yet. It sounds good production wise. From my perspective they are reaching for that Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood vibe but do they have the talent to reach that height? Remains to be seen yet. I think the singer has a kind of bland voice unfortunately.

It deserves more spins, I'm only a few songs in at this point.

Their myspace has four or five songs there

I find it bizarre & disturbing that Rob Gordon feels the need to appear in his Now Playing posts. And I also think he's put on a few pounds.

It does sort of break the fourth wall, also, he makes the bad habit of not clarifying what the fuck he is listening to, my biggest pet peeve. I don't know album art motherfuckers.

If you like recent Allman Brothers. I think it's his best work. Just a great feeling album and gets me in a sunny mood.
