Are the rest of the records in this series this good?

What is some other stuff like this? I've heard some stuff from Africa like this, but don't know what it is called or who the artists are? Any ideas?

just got an advance of the new King Biscuit Time. (steve mason of the beta band) Its likely gonna be all I listen too for weeks, me being a MEGA beta fan and the fact that its better than "Heros to Zeros"

just amazing stuff!

Haven't heard it yet, but I'm very curious to. Sad news though, as it seems he may be quitting the music biz.

I know...first the beta's and now he quits! he's got an amazing new solo album, his own record label and a great tour all lined up and then he dropped that bad news. I personally thing he's lost his shit alltogether, and think the beta's split up because of him and his crazy ways (whatever that means)
anyway I'm saying its the best album I've heard this year. yes for real. But I'm bias towards anything the beta's put out. oh and the aliens (other beta's after the split) have an EP out (soon)

also in heavy rotation...the new phoenix. great stuff!

Yeah. Did Campbell actually record it, or did he write it for someone else? Only version I've heard is Spacemen 3.

is this a grower? i picked it up last summer and haven't listened to it more than a few times. with the new deluxe edition (or whatever) getting some press lately, i'm thinking i need to give it a few more spins. or is it a lost cause if i didn't like it immediately?

Maybe you need more acid in yer bloodstream...

Regardless, I always loved that record. But then, I like odd little experimental art rock. So yeah, I picked up the re-release, and the sound quality is much improved. Also included are some bonus tracks, different mixes and small pieces. Plus the liner notes are an interesting read. And it even comes with a video. So you might as well, eh?

I think it's fantastic. If given the choice I'd prefer listening to B&AS, AGW, HCTWJ...but I like busting it out every now and again.

AFTERSHOCK summed it up. If you don't like - take more drugs. Great bonus tracks. Excellent sound quality. Cool liner notes.

Hey, what's a good Thin Lizzy studio album to get?
I only have Jailbreak and a Best Of...
Pavement Ist Rad
Both Bad Reputation and Black Rose are great albums. They perfected their sound on Jailbreak, but it wasn't until they hooked up with producer Tony Visconti that they started to sound like the powerful hard rock gods that they are barely recognized for being. Visconti made their songs all anthemic and HUGE like. See, I can't think of one song off of either of those records that I dislike even the slightest. MAYBE I'll upload one or two or both or either some time this week.

This is great. Maybe even better than the actual album.

I'm pretty intrigued by this project. It would be hard to top the original album, but you never know with the Melvins.

It's really more like a radio performance than a "live" album. They basically set up in a warehouse and played two shows for an invite-only audience. Then they took the best performances from both shows and edited them together. There's no crowd noise or audience interaction at all. The track order is slightly different than the original as well. The whole thing is recorded very "in-the-red" and the playing is pretty tight (Trevor Dunn is on bass). I think the production is what's making me like it more than the original. I always thought Houdini was very muddy and dull sounding.

Check out this awesome version of "Night Goat" from the album (sorry it's m4a, that's all I've got)
