The first disc is gorgeous. Absolutely lovely. The second is a bit more on the "meh" side. But that's almost always the case with dance mix discs, eh?
i listened to the slider, and even though i liked a few songs from it, i didn't feel that it was a strong album.

I've been wondering about this album.
it's very good... folky and dramatic, a little eastern european sounding with all the strums, horns, shakers, accordion, bells, german marching band percussion, etc.
RIYL: neutral milk hotel, califone, calexico, and all this "freak folk" stuff that is coming out lately

It was a kinda "arty" looking shot of an open makeup case (compact). I can't seem to find any pics of it on the web right now though. Weird.

I know what you mean about the middle, TV Torso sounds like a demo compared to the other songs, which sort of disrupts the flow of things. I actually like the song a lot though, the guitar riff that comes in after a few minutes is awesome. Plus it reminds me of something from the first two Wolf Parade EPs, which obviously earns bonus points. "Movie Monster" is the only track I'm not completely sold on yet, and even that isn't too bad.

Agreed. Hopefully an actual album will come out soon. Pikul is just a 7-song EP. Still, it's really damn good. If an album of this quality comes out, i would say that it will probably match Funeral.
