Awesome mixing on this.. I find dubstep mixes can often get horribly dry and sparse.. this one is always captivating.

Paul McCartney & Wings - Band on the Run
Been a bit obsessed with this lately. "Let Me Roll It" is my jam.

I always thought that guitar riff on "Let Me Roll It" was sort of an homage to Lennon. It really sounds like a Lennon thing.

Great album. My personal favorite off of this is probably either Bluebird or 1985. But they are all good songs.

Anyway,

Exotic Creatures of the Deep (Sparks)

Seems like if you love Ween, you'd at least like Sparks. This album's great.

Man the RA mixes are good lately. Thought it would take them a while to top the Black Dog UR mix but this is stunning.

I was a bit put off by the familiarity of the source material at first but after a few listens I’m starting to really like it.

One for James D and Caley. I bought my third copy of Jupiter, this time with the above cool disc. Has a great demo of 'Stained Silver', with a lot more bass guitar and rawness, and a song called 'Bigger Riff', which is a completely different song to 'Big Riff', to the point where I question why they called it that.* And a version of 'Brain Candle', which I think is album version.

* In hindsight, it's a demo of 'Rubber and Glue'.

This is Jupiter? Odd looking.

edit: sorry, misread your post. Is is single for one of the songs off Antenna?

I'm a bonafide Cave In fanboy and I've never heard of this 'Rubber and Glue' you speak of. Sounds interesting.

It's a bonus disc that came with a later Hydra Head issue of Jupiter. This version of 'Stained Silver', after many listens, is officially better than the album version. Maybe my fave Brodsky vocal.

As for 'Rubber and Glue', perhaps I've got the name wrong...

It's track seven on Antenna, 'fanboy'! tongue.gif

Put these four albums in a playlist, hit shuffle, and went to work.

In reorganizing all my CD's I started to delve into boxes of burned CD's that a friend of mine gave me. In the early 00's he went to a couple of mega CD jukeboxes for his home audio distribution. He spent hours taking his own massive collection and making comps out of a hundreds of artists. He did a little remastering, tweaking with them as he has access to a Pro-Tools studio. Nothing major, just punching things up where they needed and leveling out sound from disc to disc. Then he'd rip me a copy as well. I am forever grateful for this too often neglected goldmine.

So, nothing really to show as far as pix go....but now playing a 2 CD comp of Cocteau Twins.

New An Albatross album. Sounds good. Sounds like An Albatross, really.

It was near the An Albatross album. Haven't listened to it in ages. It was pretty much my favourite CD when I was 14.

Magic Lantern - High Beams

I'd consider starting a thread on this, but I don't have much faith that it would go over particularly well. Instead I'll say that this is one of my favorite records I've heard this year. And if you dig any modern psych, you should enjoy this. Immediately pleasing and a testament to the use of delay. Hopefully a few folks will dig:
