I'm loving this! Has anyone heard the colour of spring, or any of Hollis' solo work? I'm wondering how those stack up against spirit of eden and laughing stock...

Awesome, glad you liked it. I think I might start a Can thread soon with YSI's of all the albums. People need to hear this shit.

CAN week sounds good to me. I'm missing a couple of the later albums.
I can help w/ the first 5-6. Let me know.

not to beat a dead horse, but this is one damn fine album. RIYL: showgazer stuff, big guitars, late eighties new wave bands.

Nice. This might be the best Orb album since Orblivion, altho it does drag on a bit near the end - but then again, every Orb album drags on a bit here + there.

This Nellie album is still alright... but it does feel kinda unfocused. Maybe because I'm still listening to the 16 track version. Has the longer version been leaked yet?

And that Cat Power record is very nice too smile.gif.

No kidding - I'm not sure the term "demos" is even appropriate: this could have been a successful solo album. Glad it wasn't, of course - you can really see (feel? hear?) how much the other members contributed.

Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness First time I've ever heard this album and I must say: Damn. This is some gorgeous, heart-breaking, fantastic music.
Jan Jelinek - Kosmischer Pitch I need to YSI this. Fantastic record that's been growing on me since I stumbled across it on one of Stylus' writer's year-end lists. It's ambient electronica entirely sampled from Krautrock records, but it really doesn't anything like that.
M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent Lovin' this man's work.

No word yet but a new single "We're Here" is due by the end of March. Some new tracks are going up on the website (http://www.guillemots.com/) on the 14th. They are doing a small tour of the UK in March/April so I'd hazard a guess at just after that (they are having problems mixing the single so they could be delayed a bit.)
