Augie March - Moo, You Bloody Choir Such a bizarre title for such a good album.
The Horror The Horror - S/T Excellently fun indie pop. A little interpol-y, a little strokes-y, a little elefant-y.
This Heat - Deceit All the talk of it got me listening to it again... S.P.Q.R. just kills me.
Jamie Lidell - Multiply Additions So yeah, more of the same as the original, but the original's still one of my favs of last year, so that's fine by me.

I've been trying to do other things besides spend umpteen hours a day online, ya know, like talking to other humans face to face and writing. The SOMB sorta fell outta my daily rhythm... but now I'm at my dad's house with nothing to do but pack up for the move, and we all know the SOMB is the single best procrastination tool in the world. I mean, the movers can pack grandma's crystal, right?
Plus, I needed a shot of some good music...

stuff i am listening to because I just picked it up:
Phoenix - It's Never Been Like That (top five of the year)
and the local Sam Goody went out of business, so it is now at 60% off all stuff (sadly I got there after probably a month of this sale, and it was pretty picked over, most sweet box sets are picked over, and dvd sets... but there is still a copy of Children of Nuggets there for 26.99 so i might get that tomorrow)
what I could find:
Ghostface - The Pretty Toney Album (six bucks)
Franz Ferdinand - You Coul Have it So Much Better (seven bucks)
DJ Muggs vs. GZA - Grandmasters (five bucks)
might go back tomorrow and pick up that nuggets set along with the Van Hunts debut, and the maybe Blink -182 self titled.

Juana Molina – SonRather hypnotizing, quiet and lovely. Beautiful CD packaging too.
Smoosh – Free to StayThese girls could use some…er…balls. Sugar-coated kid stuff. Makes the likes of Eisley sound like L7 by comparison. Well, not really, but if they weren't 12 and 14 years old, would anyone think this is special?
Camera Obscura – Let's Get Out Of This CountrySolid, sturdy and pleasant. A bit monochromatic at times, but Camera Obscura does what they do pretty well.
Mojave 3 – Puzzles Like YouNeil Halstead goes all summery pop-rock with fantastic results. A real charmer of an album.

Not entirely sure - It seems to start a bit differently. not as gradual. And the pieces are edited a bit differently, probably to accomodate four equal sides (Teeth of Lions is a 2-parter).
Or maybe my brain is fried. Loss of memory is pretty common after hearing this.

So what's everybody's year-later concensus on the Ryan Adam's trio from last year? Not to beat a dead horse, and if this got covered while I was absentee just ignore me and move on. Who votes for Cold Roses and who votes for JCN? We all know 29 doens't even count. I personally think CR kicks the pants offa JCN, but I'm a Heartbreaker kinda guy...
I've been listening to the M. Ward and the Frightened Rabbit, both of which I am liking very, very much. Thanks for posting that FR, Sim.

JCN >> CR >>>>>>>>> 29 (as you said, it just doesn't count)
As far as I'm concerned JCN has more high points than Cold Roses and a handful of the best Ryan Adams songs that have ever been written. The consistency factor plays a huge part in my mind. Of course CR has it's big moments, but it also has a couple of really lame tunes, such as a "Blossom." I love them both, but CR is just a little too heavy on the sappy side. JCN lacks those clunkers and sap factor -- gives it the edge for me.

Jose Gonzalez: stay in the shade.
A great ep, I've been playing it a lot since the weather changed.

I've been on a reggae kick lately, after all it is summertime. This has some decent stuff on it, although they are a bit repetitive at times.

If you're an ambient fan, you won't be let down by this duo. But it's not as good in my opinion as their previous outings.
