Eh, I really thought that one was a misstep, as I get the impression most did. Maybe I need to listen to it some more though, I've only given it five spins or so. Wonder when she'll put out another album?

^well above average, catchy pop rock

Supposedly they have four albums in the queue, first one to be released in September, second to hit early next year... not too excited about that, but I bet all 4 albums together will have enough songs to make a great mix.

I've never really appreciated tracks like Dull Flame of Desire or Vertebrae by Vertebrae until now.

It's a beautiful song, for sure, but how in the Dickens did you not appreciate it until now? It's pretty clearly brilliant.

Not sure what 'most' people have to do with your enjoyment of a record.

Nothing, I'm just saying that I don't think I'm alone in my opinion.

Wow, I heard them for the first time, on the way back from Dylan, on Friday night. Loved it. Was like a garage proto-Monster Magnet.

Corrected on the latter point at least. Not kidding though, can't stand it.

well, the Kinks cover is first-rate.

Now that I can imagine, quite different to the Keys covering the Beefheart version I guess.

Kinks version not included on the wiki entry there.

OTM

there was time during the mid to late 90's when all of the post-rock/indie/math-rock bands were doing such cool stuff with packaging... Fireproof Press? remember them?

I've been obsessed with those Big Star albums lately. Such brilliant songwriting. And the guitar work on "O My Soul" is unbelievable. I sort of rediscover these albums every 6 months or so, and am blown away all over again.

It's "Moonbeams" by Throw Me The Statue.

Pretty decent pop. Not nearly as hot as dem boobies though.

Awesome. I've loved Big Star for years, but I rediscovered them harder than ever several months ago. Radio City is the one that I've played the most as a result of that. I didn't used to love it as much as the other two, but I'm now realizing how kickass the whole thing is. Chris Bell leaving somehow led to them stepping up their game as a band. The guitarwork and drumming all over that album is seriously underrated and great and serves the slightly more massive songs like "O My Soul" (one of my favorite things to play on guitar... well, try to play, anyway) and "Daisy Glaze" so well.

Also been playing the shit out of the solo Alex Chilton records Like Flies On Sherbert and Bach's Bottom, which are better than I could have ever hoped they'd be.
