can't thank helmet and moofman enough for introducing me to his soundworld.

I listened to about half of aerial 1 last night and decided I didn't want to hear anymore.

I was disappointed.

wow. dusted this one off and damn, it hit the spot. the riff for little birdy kicks ass!

I love the fake proggy british voice in the stallion, too.

Since I'm probably the only one that would seriously talk about this album with you, what do you think? I'm pretty disappointed, not that I had huge expectations. But I liked the direction Chris was going with "Vindicated", that over the top bombastic pop style and I feel like this falls pretty short of that. With the time he took working on this album I was hoping for a little more development, but I guess this is Dashboard frickin' Confessional we are talking about here.

I actually dig it, man. The single grew on me immensely, and the rest of the disc is pretty solid. I don't think it trumps any of his previous work, but I'd say it's almost on par with the last record, which I also liked quite a bit. Also, speaking of "Vindicated"... hidden tracks prior to the first song, check 'em out.

And though I generally dislike Counting Crows (and the singer [and his hair, especially]), I think Adam Duritz's backup vocals work really well on the song he guests on.

It doesn't bore me -- you might be right with the too dark thing.

For some reason I had expectations from the reactions, which in retrospect had no descriptions, so I'm not sure where I developed my odd little thoughts of what it would sound like. I'll definitely listen to it again though...we'll see what happens. Like moofman said, it might be good to smoke to. I haven't bought dope on my own in so fucking long and all I want to do is smoke lately. Unfortunately, I don't know anybody to ask out in the land of mountains.

I do dig that song, the voices mesh together surprisingly well. Maybe I'll have to give this a couple more spins before I discard it completely though, I remember not being a fan of "Vindicated" the first time either. I still haven't bought a real copy yet, so I can't speak for those hidden tracks.

LOL at us for taking up space talking about D/C. LOL at that.

Bah, I'm not shamed by it. It's not the event record it could have been for me three years ago, but I do like it quite a bit. Do give it a few more spins... took me a couple to start digging it.

It's going for $9-$10 most places this week, though it's $7 at Best Buy with a student ID. Bizarre, but appreciated.

Oh, I'm not ashamed by it either - I just think its funny to imagine all the reactions as Paves and Burzum scan through this thread to talk about their Ween or their Birchville Cat Motel. Anyway, maybe I'll have to see if my old student ID will still work. Doubtful, but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Anyway, here's what I've been spinning today so far:

Really good - well produced and recorded. This sounds like the album Cash must have had in mind when he started working with Rick Rubin.

These cds are really fitting with my mood this morning. Someone bring me a martini.

By the way, this Sharon Jones cd is amazing. I really like her first album, Dap Dippin', but Naturally is even better. I've had the cd for awhile and it's holding up after many listens. There are only two songs on the disc I sometimes skip over, the rest is solid. Love it!

Roxy Music - Avalon Seriously, though. Why are these guys not more well known for their own work, and less for the Eno association? All three of the albums I've heard by them are phenominal in their own way, and each has a similiar, yet wholly unique sound.
The Who - Who's Next Believe it or not, this is my first full-frontal exposure to the Who. It's always been songs here and there, so I decided to give an album a shot. Will he like it? Find out tomorrow on NOW PLAYING...

PJ Harvey - Rid of Me
Ween - Chocolate and Cheese
Talking Heads - 77

personally I liked Love and Theft better...still both are great and I too can't wait for the new August release. No way am I gonna say his last though. He's made no indication of that and he's a lifelong musician. As long as he blesses us with time on earth then I would expect him to be producing material. He is the master..........
