I bought this tape but haven't listened to it yet. Glad to hear at least half of it is good.

One of those records that inadvertently reminds you of the extent to which Dylan changed the game.

Yeah, it's pretty solid. Nothing against side one, really, but two was my jam. Really good shit. At times intricate enough for me to doubt the "It's improvised" claims.

I had to back up and play "Birdie Told Me" a second time. Insanely catchy tune.

Finally listening to this mainly based on the enthusiasm expressed by Pigfuck. I'm really enjoying it so far. Obviously it's a dense as fuck recording. But had I heard this in 2009 I probably would have voted for it somewhere in my aoy list.
Never listened to that, but am definitely an admirer of the cover. Fucking gorgeous.

I found out about it from the latest Still Single column on Dusted. Just the sort of thing I wanted to hear today. Enjoyed it more than a number of records I've heard in that vein (Rusted Shut, Billy Bao, etc.)
Also just listened to last year's TV Ghost album and deleted it.

Why not? Because it's a Ringo Starr album in 2010 called Y Not. Seems like as good a reason as any not to listen to this. Don't know what I thought I'd hear when I put this on. But I don't think I was surprised. This isn't terrible, but it isn't good. I liked his last one better.

One of my favorite old punk comps. Great stuff. It's amusing to hear all of the old Reagan references from that era. I love Flipper's version of "Life" and those Bad Brains tracks kill.

Yeah, there's a ton of Reagan bashing throughout. The favorite topic of punk bands in the '80s.
The Dils track "Black Out" is sick. And the live "Scream" that Black Flag does.

These guys were fantastic. This band has always been horribly underrated as pop/rock artists. 100x better than the Strokes, Phoenix, etc etc. Better songs, better playing, better melodies bla bla bla. Listen to the chorus on "Here Comes My Girl". Brilliant.
Petty was like a stoner version of Springsteen who knew when to shut up and keep things more simple. LOL. listen to that song high. Petty knew what he was doing. Everything just sloooows down and then twists back in on itself. He's playing with your mind. You can tell he was baked in the video as well as the drummer.

First Listen. Fantastic record, so many interesting styles here and it really feels like a natural progression from 13. While,I'm not a fan of the early stuff these guys did, everything from Parklife to Think Tank is amazing(13 being my favorite.).
