Giddy Motors - Do EasyI think I just found my album of the year. If you like stuff like Shellac or The Jesus Lizard you really need to check this album out (as well as their first album,
Make It Pop).

Hadn't heard these guys before Lolla. I'm enjoying the hell out of it this morning.

Working my way through the recoomendations from the Lips thread. Crunchier guitars than I was expecting after their set at Lolla, but awfully listenable nonetheless.
It's a Lollapalooza follow-up kind of weekend for Uhler!

Is this band ever great. Screw Isis, the hipsters should be listening to this.
I downloaded
Ashes Against the Grain on your recommendation and it sounds great on first listen. It seems like an album that requires some immersion so I'm looking forward to spending some time with it.

Their entire discography can be downloaded
here. It's a really unique sound...rooted in black metal/doom, but with touches of folk, neoclassical, goth, post punk, and post rock. And
very accessible.

Junior Boys - So This is GoodbyeAs someone who didn't like Last Exit at all... about half of this album is smoking hot. 1/4 of it is pretty good, and 1/4 is boring. But half of it is really fucking good.
Califone - Roots & CrownsI've been listening to Quiskand/Cradlesnakes a lot lately, so when I found out this had leaked I grabbed it immediately and it's quite satisfying. And satisfying is kinda what I like about Califone. Its not flashy, intense, or impressive... its just music thats thoroughly good and interesting.
Get this one here: hxxp://www.sendspace.com/file/yrreao
I just found out, browsing the Califone wikipedia page, that it was Tim Rutili who was the other half of Ugly Cassanova. Never knew that....

Listened to these in my friend Brendan's car today:

Incredible music. Yup.
Then Dan and I screamed our heads off along to this in Beth's car:

Good fucking times, people. Goddamnit.

Been listening to Postal Service b-sides quite a bit... which is odd, because I've had all of these songs for over a year now. Listened to a set of five of them about ten times in the past couple of weeks.
Otherwise, still mostly listening to the new Gatsbys American Dream and Hellogoodbye records, along with the Pipettes.

So this is pretty boring for the most part, but what's up with that last song? Sounds like the intro to a black metal album. Those vocals at the end kinda ruin it but otherwise it's pretty awesome and totally unexpected.

Welcome... I'd love to see 'em live. There's no TX dates listed, but I'm hoping they'll extend the tour in light of the album release. I'm assuming their awesome live, just because they seem like the style band that would be much more powerful in that setting.

Being the old man slow on the pick up. I have mixed feelings on this. Some tracks are real sweet and others (like the VF cover) are just lost on me. Like DM mixing it up with various DJ's though.
Overall, not as tight to me as the Gemini project.
