Just Played: Sid's Parka Bruthaz album from last year is one of the best things I've listened to in quite a while. Very complex and rewarding, but not "difficult" at all.

NP: Whatever I put into the Listening Room. Closing track from that Parka's album going in there right now, cause it wails fucking ass.... sludgy robot computer bass jam groove fuck music... if that's a genre. Fucking around building a new computer and music library for the next hour or two...

loving this whole mid 90's indie guitar band revival thing happening... this is a great recording.

Love, love this album.

pretty great female fronted garagey/country vibes

For whatever reason so many people wrote this record off. Was my number one record in 2009 and I stand by that a year and half later. If you like great pop songs, with interesting arrangements and instrumentation, do yourself a favor and give this record a spin.

slowly becoming one of my favorite records of the 00's...

My #1 album of 2005. It kills me that the new one is so close. I want to hear it NOW.

I've had this in my car for the last week. Not sure if this is my absolute favorite Richard (and Linda) Thompson album. Rumor and Sigh, Shoot Out The Lights and I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight are all up there. But man, "For Shame Of Doing Wrong" "Night Comes In" "Beat The Retreat" and "Dimming Of The Day" are as good as anything he's ever done, and they're all here.

still loving this

Major musical crush on this guy, FM Cornog, delighted he's back (after ten years working at Home Depot) sounding much the same.
RIYL Silver Jews, Bobby Bare Jr, YLT, Lambchop (for whom he wrote songs in the Nixon era and before).

Scratch Acid:Not quite as good as The Jesus Lizard, but this is still pretty good.

horrible band name, horrible album art, but this is a really solid "sound opinions message board special new band thread worthy" album. but who has the time anymore to do shit like that? highly recommended if you like Dinosaur Jr, Teenage Fanclub, Sparklehorse, Yo La Tengo, blah blah blah.

i love it and have had it on repeat for the last two days.
badger5000
I'm sort of surprised people have any time to listen to another record that sounds like Dinosaur/TFC etc but which was made by someone else. I must be getting old.

Catching up on 2011.

Cut/Copy: Feels like a grower. I like some of it lots, but some of it will take some time.

PJ Harvey: Really interesting album, I feel I need to focus more the next time I listen to this though.

Destroyer: I instantly love this. Has a great 80's/jazz feel with all the sax work. Fantastic record.

Listening to the CD loud on a nice stereo system. Sounds awesome.

I'm especially enjoying picking out the Jonathan Donahue vocal parts. I'm guessing that about 99% of the people who have heard this record think that Wayne does all the singing.

Would you say that this is in fact one of the best and most misunderstood Autechre albums, Undo?

I need to spend more time with their earlier stuff and I don't think I've bothered to try to understand the last 3 or so (beyond one or two listens each), so I'm really not the right person to ask.

Nat King Cole: Some compilation put out by Forever Gold. I'd been meaning to listen to him for years, seeing his role in 'Cat Ballou' made me finally remember and get around to it. Good.

Yeah, I've played this a dozen times already this week. If Low isn't in my EOY 2011, it means that this will have been an insanely good year for music. And it's shaping up that way anyway.
