Looks like Ben's in a gleep blorp click mood today. Nice. Maybe I'll join ya after I finsih listening to:

I took relish in describing it to a co-worker as "cerebral german music, with bleeps and bloops." I've always enjoyed the flattering idea that listening to fidgety tick-tocks is somehow a marker of intelligence.
Ministry are just alright with me.

yes, that is a great way to describe them. I
almost love my morning jacket, but the vocals just get to be a little too much for me. These guys don't do that. I'm head over heals.

focus on these 3 tracks imo: The Funeral (my fave), The Great Salt Lake, and the first track (The First Song i think it's called?). i also really like Weed Party too, that track is very much MMJ.

Yeah, track 6 ("The Great Salt Lake") is where it starts to pick up for me. I agree "Weed Party" is good too. I just need to give it more time.

... My first description stands. It's pretty okay. Definitely more My Morning Jacket than Shins. I'd say around 70/30.

Yeah, he started up the project again. I think the release is a culmination of 6 years worth of material. If I had to pick a genre, I'd say its "dark ambient". Similar to something like Main's Hz. I'm digging it- although i admittedly worship anything Broadrick does.

Devotchka may be the best band in America you’ve never heard of. This fascinating little quartet from Denver Colorado has made a wistful, beautifully-arranged something that isn’t really an indie rock record, and isn’t really a jazz record, and isn’t really a mariachi/norteno (or Eastern European) folk record.
