Eels (w/Strings) – Live At Town Hall Not bad. E's melancholy gets appropriate chamber pop treatment
Arab Strap – Last Romance Although I've heard a number of their songs, this is actually the first Arab Strap album that I've listened to in its entirety. Delightfully profane.
APB – Something to Believe In (20th Anniversary edition) One of those albums that I've had and loved on vinyl that I was waiting to be reissued, and here it is! With a bonus disc of live songs, outtakes and rarities to boot
Maximo Park – Missing Songs Nearly as good as A Certain Trigger
Morning After Girls – s/t Hmmm. Not making a big impression on first listen
Kelley Stoltz – Below the Branches A really, really solid pop record. I can see playing this one a lot.
Sarah Harmer – I'm a Mountain I've like her pop-rock efforts. This one has got a country/bluegrass feel. Might sound good on Prairie Home Companion, but it's a bit boring here.
Destroyer – Destroyer's Rubies I'm surprised how much I like this. Dan Bejar's voice takes getting used to, but he's winning me over
Ray Davies – Other People's Lives Hit and miss, but about what I expected.

The Grassroots - "Where Were You When I Needed You" (1966)

The Doctor's post in the singles thread inspired me to dig out this classic piece of '60s bubblegum. Unlike the follow-up albums, this one is essentially comprised of hit songwriters Phil Sloan and Steve Barri (and some session musicians). Worth checking out if just to hear their original "You Baby"...

Yeah, this is really pretty great.

The first couple listens frustrated me due to the guy's similarity to Jim James on the sparser tracks. Once I got past that though, I was blown away. There's something very Sunny Day Real Estate about their sound at times -- especially the first track.

i think it was from 2001.
i just picked it up this weekend from Reckless, and I am already a big fan. I am not going to say it is better than either of the new ones... just slightly different. Little less rocking than Yours Mine and Ours, but a little more messy than Discover a Lovelier You.
If i get the chance I might throw out of YSI of it later tomorrow night. But yeah if you find it before hand to download it is a stunner. The pernice brothers are slowly becoming on of my favorite little bands of the decade.
