So is this out domestically now?
I want it.

The only time I looked, it was only available as a very expensive import.

I've always liked this one. I think that, if I were ever to drive a car into the Grand Canyon, I would want that climactic part of "Lincoln's Eyes" blasting just as I left the rim.

After all the Isis comparisons, I didn't expect to like this band anywhere near this much. Pure doomy goodness.

most quality voices do. Otherwise, why go to the shows?

Split tour release from last year. Limited to 500 on gold vinyl. The Sunn track "Coma Mirror" has vocals by Xasthur and noise by Oren Ambarchi and John Weise. The Earth track is "A Plague Of Angels" which is also on Hibernaculum in a slightly different mix.

No, it's not. The actual release date is April 11th, but the U.S. dates are still unknown, I believe (Yancy, correct me if I'm wrong). I just used my super sleuthing abilities to find it early. I rule.

I'm uploading it to sendspace for Yancy and anyone else who wants it right now. It'll be up shortly.

First part is totally right on. Maybe my favorite Yo La Tengo song? Just beautiful stuff.

Don't worry, it's a grower, hee! "Saturday," "Cherry Chapstick," and others have wonderful things in store for you as you travel on your musical journey or whatever. Good stuff. Listen to it at night in the dark with nothing but a desk lamp on or some shit, all in the comfort of your suburban home, for maximum effect.

"Night Falls..." is an amazing journey - the payoff is definitely worth your patience.
"Tired Hippo" doesn't really bother me either.

Another high point is "Let's Save Tony Orlando's House".

Great album!

Man, I'm binging on Yo La Tengo (and Roger Moutenot) as of late:

The fan letter in the liner notes is great ("then you have the audacity to pull that nebulous, abstract feedback fucking nonsense"...lol!)

As for And Then Nothing..., yes, really great record. I kind of put these guys down for a while--didn't buy a thing between And Then Nothing... and their latest (which is all kinds of awesome). Love this band.

Artem,

I effing love that mix you upped a couple of weeks ago. Any chance you could provide a list of artists or point me in the dircetion of similar?
Artem
you mean that techno mix?

i really like these: my my, isolee, ricardo villalobos, dominik eulberg, luomo, booka shade, audion, michael mayer. may be a good start if you haven't heard their records/mixes/compilations before. they're all fairly "mainstream" in their respective genres and aren't difficult to find. check that "at the lonely end of the dancefloor" thread. there're a lot of stuff that you may find interesting.

Cool, thanks.

I particularly enjoyed the "he knows what you want, and he gives it to you" tune and the one toward the end with the chimes or bells. Great stuff!
Artem
the first song you mention is remixed by gui boratto. i haven't heard the original version of it, but if you liked that remix you may wanna check out some other stuff by guy boratto. his latest album got some pretty good reviews and people seemed to like it. i think it has some good singles on it that are similar to that remix.
