their first album may be their best, but I think this one is my favorite - there was some real growth on this record, a direction that - unfortunately - wasn't pursued on future efforts.

"Questioningly" is Joey's finest moment.

I agree. Very underrated Ramones record. After their debut, this may be my favorite (although "Rocket To Russia" is right there too). Favorite track, besides the obvious: "It's A Long Way Back"

seriously. eno brought out something tremendous in that band. speaking of, the "laid" video was on vh1 classic last night. i don't remember it at all, but know i must've seen it way back then.

Neil Young ~ Silver And Gold

i've been on a Neil Young kick of late and i got this one out of the library. i think it's one of his better efforts and i'm surprised no one ever talks about it much. on the other hand, i got pretty bored by the ARE YOU PASSIONATE? record.

IPB Image

Rush ~ Presto

there's not enough Rush talk on this board. smile.gif this album takes me back to Senior Year in high school when i listened to it countless times. it's probably the best record of their fourth quarter ~ by far.

IPB Image

Rush ~ Vapor Trails

i know a lot of people slagged this album for the lack of a good sound production, but it's amazing to me how hot their playing is on it. one of my favorites of theirs, and that's saying something.

My only problem with Rush = For all their technical excellence, every song seems to go on for like, 2-3 minutes too long. The stuff sounds great (and I particularly love the use of "Tom Sawyer" in Futurama) but I honestly couldn't tell one Rush album apart from another - they all sorta blend into the background for me.

However, I'm the sort of spacehead who's currently sitting behind his desk listening to...

IPB Image

... therefore you can only take my assessment of Rush SO far.

why have I waited so long...this is moby at his best...forget play, 18, etc (while they are good)...this is just a classic CD from start to finish

U.N.K.L.E. - Psyence Fiction

As heavy handed and corny as it can sound at times, (I'm looking at you Richard Ashcroft and Mike D), there are moments of absolute brilliance on this record like "Nursery Rhyme" and "Rabbit In Your Headlights"

Pete Townshend ~ Empty Glass

i haven't heard this one in a while. i'd always preferred his follow-up (ALL THE BEST COWBOYS HAVE CHINESE EYES) before, but this one just kicked my ass today. it's probably his best work post-QUADROPHENIA. for whatever reason, i always thought "Keep On Working" and "Cat's In The Cupboard" were lesser songs, but not today. and the final trio of "A Little Is Enough," "Empty Glass" (how did the WHO not put this song on their WHO ARE YOU record?) and "Gonna Get Ya" are awesome. not sure what record Stephen Thomas Erlewine is listening when he says "it runs out of steam at the end."
