I must have replayed "It's Hard To Be a Saint In the City" half a dozen times whilst listening to that Springsteen disc. The jamming at the end is just orgasmic. Very close to my favourite Springsteen song. The version on the live at Hammersmith Odeon DVD/CD is the highlight of that show for me.

Only on track 4, but "Don't Save Me" was amazing. Maybe the best single I've heard this year.

Interesting, I find this thing hard to listen to. I think it's just Finn's voice. Sing or talk ... pick one. Just not my thing.

Lou Reed's Transformer.

Never heard it before, and it's not as great as I thought it was to be quite honest, but I keep going back to "Walk on the Wild Side". I guess I thought the whole cd would be a little wilder.

yeah. it's just ok. There are some great songs (Satellite of Love and Vicious spring to mind) but it really lacks muscle. And some of the songs are such trifles, which I don't mind, but it's tough for Lou to pull them off. Then again, I haven't heard it in eons, so maybe my memory is off.

Tuesday's my last day at the day job, nobody's asked me to do anything between now and then, so I'm killing time by being a little stoned and listening to :

I could see where people might find his voice a little grating.
For me, the sense of humor in his songwriting more than makes up for his vocals.
He's kind of doing the gutter poet thing.

Bowie's sax solo at the end of that song is legend. It really sucks that he stopped playing in later years.

From Boomkat:

Kranky manage to sieve through the muck and pluck out another breathtaking album, the debut from Autistic Daughters. Those of you out there (and there are many) who revere Talk Talk's ascent into heavenly climbs with their "Laughing Stock" and "Spirit of Eden" albums will immediately find themselves seduced by this project's wondrous effervescence. Except whereas Talk Talk emerged from a pop-focused universe into more subdued, experimental surroundings, Autistic Daughters has its protagonists three masters of minimalism and experimentation slowly discovering how to function as a band. "Jealousy and Diamond" is profoundly rich in texture and atmosphere - a delicate jazz hover permeates the pores of each and every track, while Dean Roberts guitar grounds the music in an other-worldly folk amalgamation that shimmers with its extreme, hushed beauty. Breathtaking music.
