One of the cooler of the modern-day Space Rock/Shoegazer albums. Not out until April 18th, but a damn fine release that should be picked up/pre-ordered.

It was amazing. I didn't really know what to expect when I went, but it was definitely the best show I saw last year. The visuals were just perfect.

I'm committed to listening to all my 1965-74 albums and i'm nearing the finishing line. But Christ I could catch a film instead of listening to this. (It's good though just not worth hearing more than once a year)

Oh, I hear you. In Reverie damn near killed any faith I had in the band, but Sound the Alarm is actually quite good. It's their most straight-forward, rocking album yet... lyrically, it's not as sharp as their best records, but it's a very strong package overall.

was spinning this and thinking of the many reasons why it ended up on the top of my albums list. Chief among them is Barrett's guitar work. I love it, it's full of so many textures, he approached the guitar in a unique way. That part in Lucifer Sam, when he makes his guitar sound like a violin, damn that's great.

IPB Image
thanks again to whoever ysi'd this (blank, right?). It's one of my favorites of the year. 5 songs, mixing electronic music with some post rock guitar/vibes. Kind of reminds me of a more laid back Ulrich Schnauss, with less of a dance emphasis in the beat.

I first heard Oscar G. about 3 years ago. And I've been to Space in Miami. Both were positive experiences for me. So it's no surprise that this dance mix disc is really effin' good.

that's been on my 'to purchase' list for a long time.

I've listened to it a few times, and so far I feel it is overrated. Standout cuts are the first two, and old guitar. It isn't unlistenable, so I'll give it a few more spins. Maybe it's a grower.

IPB Image
Think later Mercury Rev, Spiritualized, etc. Well done instrumentally and production wise. They use a lot of instruments and in an understated way, unlike many orch pop acts who crescendo every chance they get. I should be all over this but unfortunately I feel the songwriting and hooks are a bit lacking, making for a bit of a dull listen for me.

IPB Image
This seems pretty well done so far, but I'm only four songs in.

i'm with Hickman on the Marquee Moon record. (i've only ever enjoyed "See No Evil.") the same for the Van Morrison record. i've tried each of these a number of times through the years and neither has ever hit me. maybe i'll try again in another few years, but i don't think the vocals are going to get any better from Television and i'm pretty sure the Van album won't ever get interesting. so, whatever.

Cool to see some Thinking Fellers on the board. It's a first for me.

I approve of the Melvins, Jesus Lizard, PIL and AC/DC too, of course. (and even Steve Reich)
Haven't heard the others.
