I made a "New Releases" thread once and posted that album as a joke.

I really hope that the Out of Cold Storage box set gets a wider release soon. Fuck this "order it from Europe or some place" shit.

not much of a unicorn fan, but this is pretty tasty... opener should have been shorter but whatever... love the french horn on track two

my first venture into the nonesuch explorer series, and i love it. i can see becoming addicted to this series just because they are so cheap, have crazy music and lovely packaging.

finally heard this in entirety, it made my jaw drop. Didn't expect it to be so solid. Incredible songwriting and arrangement, not to mention stellar guitar work too!

not too big on this one, but I'm giving it another chance, the weather permits it.

Whoa, that sucks. Did you order it from that R&R Megacorp place? Bummer that they're the only place selling it. Amazon UK says that the release date is April 24th, so there's hope yet.

Googling information on This Heat is a pain in the ass. Why can't more bands have names like "Slint" or "Negativland" or "Bloodrock"?

Yeah, I got it from ReR. I'm sure it'll come eventually. They said February when I ordered it. Then it got pushed to early March, then late March, now late April. It'll be awesome when it just shows up at my doorstep one day though.

Been listening to a lot of stuff in preparation for the '75-'84 poll.

upon initial listen, i was almost shocked at how pop the songs were. i mean, the last jesu record had hooks, but this is something else. i miss the abrasiveness/edge/whatever that the last album had, but i still really like this ep. i've oddly found myself humming the songs in my head all day..

My wife and I rediscovered it while moving. The disc was the only non-iTunes or AM/FM radio thing that we had to listen to for a while, as it got left in the jam box while the rest were packed away.

We've both been listening to it quite a bit still, even though all our discs, records, and cassettes have been unpacked.

Now playing...

I'm still listening to the new built to spill that finally came out today. reviews are not that good, for instance at pitchforkmedia which i don't agree with. i like the progressive rock elements and also the tube amplified guitars. definitely worth 9/10 points.

Those triggered kick drums are triphammer fast, he's gotta be using some of those Sonor Twin Effect pedals or a Heel-Toe Pedal Technique.

I guess you'd call it minimal house? I don't know, I suck with these micro-divisions of genres. It's pretty similar to The Present Lover, but without vocals. Here, I'll just post the first two tracks off the album and you can hear for yourself.

Self-titled mini-album with pretty, echo-y, folk and country-tinged, atmospheric songs. Reminds me of Edith Frost's debut EP and album a bit. This is good.

Steve Earle: Jerusalem -- still holds up pretty well. Better than people gave it credit for.
The Delays: You See Colors -- Far more upbeat and dancable than their other one. I like this quite a bit. It's always nice to hear music that can bridge the gap between my daughter's taste and mine. This will serve quite nicely. Thanks, Izz.
