Funniest (yet sadly true) reason to want a certain color scheme.
Many of my internet friends have welcomed the new year at their offices with new office policies regarding internet usage that threatens to dramatically curtail their surf time at work. The withdrawals have been brutal. Worse than going off coffee as far as "getting through the day" at the office.
There was some scary language in that registration agreement regarding use of copyrighted work...I was all stressed that PBS instructed SOMB to crack down on such usage (i.e. I can't use any of the avatars that I collected last year for kicks), but then I saw Jason's. *whew*
Crud...all this registration and crap used up all of my allotted internet time plus a half hour. Now I gotta fly.

I guess with all the worthless Jigga- and Ace-created threads with nothing to say, it just seems a waste to take thread-topic-worthy material and throw it away in a random thread. To wit:
QUOTE
2.

spare the "i don't get why people who don't like the thread post in it and bump it." this is the subject it has to do with so it goes in this thread.
this thread shouldn't exist because it won't go away once it does. why? because it is self-serving and people are complulsive. but it's a bunch of this:
-i need to lose weight
-i need a job
-this thing i ate tastes good
-so and so hurts on my body
-i bought this
-the game was good
-this game was bad
-triple lindy's decinding between the same two girls (alright i admit i didnt read the whole last thread, maybe it's changed)
and conversations between the same people that should be taken to a chatroom or pm.
if someone has a big thought, start a thread. and eventually the thread will die as threads do over time. this thread disrupts the thought timeline of the board.
but mainly it takes away from the board because people will just post something in here instead of starting a well- thought out thread.
bottom line. etc.. has decreased because of this thread.

are you kidding me?
85% of the posts on this message board are self-serving pieces of crap that people should really keep to themselves.
and this thread is about 39873495 times better than any thread that certain people will start that's directed towards one specific person that could have easily been done through pm's or email or actually talking to the person. [which is like my #1 pet peeve of the somb, but whatever.] or worthless news stories. or threads devoted entirely to padding ones post count.
i don't see what the problem is with humanizing some of the posters on the board that we know and love, giving them a place to discuss personal, topical and sometimes humourous issues and who gives a shit if it goes on forever? the ask little jess thread will unfortunately go on forever and i don't see anyone complaining about that.

I pointed out Bettis' folks to the wifey & explained how they've never missed a single pro game of Jerome's in his career and she almost got teary-eyed she was so impressed. Roethlisberger, too, is becoming a f*cking treat to watch, ain't he? And how about Hines Ward's sin & immediate redemption yesterday? i'm sleepy.
humanizing posters can be done in topical threads, just by posts over time. this thread is too easy.
i never liked ask lil jess as a 'pinned' thread, it was fun but it's had its time. what you say about threads started towards one person, yeah, they generally suck if they are a topic that no one can relate too but if it's something others can have something to say about, fine.
duh, the board is self-serving, but this is too obvious. i was merely explaining why people are drawn to post in it-- because it's self-serving. someone starting a thread in etc. about what they think at the moment is is better. then people can come and discuss the topic and it floats away in history when done. too much blah in one thread, this 5 things thread.
like i said, i don't really read this thread. i generally easily avoid it, but it has taken away from the board, only reason i'm saying something.

i used to work on the 21st floor and the shades were pulled 100%of the time... often i would hear thumping against the glass that reminded me of the sound of birds hitting it
everytime i heard that i would yell "birds", followed by everyone else in the room echoing "birds", thinking that birds were constantly running into the windows
one day after such a sound, someone got up to check what this noise was...
it was the window washers ropes hitting the glass
everybody still yells "birds", but now it is followed by a chuckle

you didn't see
me posting in this thread every other day. i said the reason it is bumped so much is because it is self-serving, i did not say the somb wasn't self-serving. threads started with one person's opinion often make great threads for debate. my threads have always been open for anyone to post in. the point is they are topical and then
die. you seemed to have your fair share of fun in them before you decided you didn't like me for reasons obvious to us. and i only started 1-2 etc. threads a month which were more to promote discussion than do anything for me. of course they are going to sometimes relate to things i'm interested in or going through. most etc. threads are. plus, i've done my share of ysi-ing albums to compensate.

SG, I can honestly say I do not recall ever having my "fair share of fun" in one of your threads then deciding I didn’t like you.
If you feel the ETC forum is dying or is not interesting enough then start a thread and quit psissing on a thread that other people obviously enjoy reading and posting in or else it wouldn't have gone on for 200+ pages. This notion of people being lazy and not starting threads because of this particular thread is bullocks. I don't know which SOMB board you're reading but most days when I first checked the board there were a ton of new threads in this forum. Threads about movies, political stories, advice on consumer products, etc. All the non-music, show related stuff that this side of the board was set up for. And if any one is lazy around here is you and the rest of the complainers that can’t be bothered to scroll past a thread they know they don’t like to find a different one that strikes their fancy.
