That's true. It could also be said that, of the two, Dulli shares the Stones' bad boy persona - to an extreme, even.

What I was really getting at, prompted by b*derty's post, is that you're either a Beatles person or a Stones person. Nobody likes both bands equally, and only those with horrible taste completely dismiss either one. - much like GBV and/or AW.

I guess I could have used the less ancient Blur/Oasis comparison, but that doesn't really work because it's too easy to hate one of those two.

I think both reunited bands would probably play the exact same size venues wherever they toured.

It's hard for the GBV reunion to feel super special when Robert Pollard has been front and center churning out music not too dissimilar from that of GBV in the meantime.

Hello, Twilight Singers?

Meanwhile, the Afghan Whigs already reunited for some recording not so long ago, whereas Pollard hadn't played with those dudes in ages.

Yeah, but does anyone actually care about Greg Dulli?

WTF? I think the people that were at all of the SOLD OUT Twilight Singers shows I've seen since 2000 would disagree with you.

This reunion is great news for those of us that love The Afghan Whigs and all of you that are shitting all over them and their popularity need to STFU! mad.gif

I gather you care.

or bigger ones if they toured together.

as a fan who's never likely to see either band reunited in australia, i'd definitely be more excited about the whigs than gbv, primarily as i've not seen them, and did see gbv and they didn't do a great deal for me back in the day.

The SOMB is slipping. Not one mention of The Afghan Whigs their first new recording in YEARS!

Well for those of you that care they released today online a cover of a song called See, Don't See. You can download it for free on their site.

Afghan Whigs

or you can stream it from Rolling Stone magazine's site.

Enjoy.

Plus the band is going to perform on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this Tuesday May 22nd.

I love the Whigs a whole bunch - but the fact that they are calling this an Afghan Whigs track is incredibly misleading. Acoustic guitar and some ambient strings don't really make it feel like a whole band is here working together.

I like the song though.
zumpano
That was a pretty good Fallon performance.

Holy shit that set list from last night is amazing. Spin suggests a proper tour in their write up. Nothing I have read is confirmed beyond the festivals and some one-off shows.

I'd love to see this band play Metro rather than only experience them with a bunch of Lollapalooza people that probably have Bon Iver and Coldplay on their iPods.

there was an interview with John Curley a couple weeks back where he all but confirmed a US tour later this fall/winter.

have been hearing good things about the possibility of a Minneapolis show if that should happen.

and yeah, that setlist was killer. f'n Bulletproof
