Sorry guys, I think Phil may have a point. "Today" is one of the greatest songs of the 90's, and what, ATDI had only one album really worth buying, right? But regardless of that, I've always wanted to see ATDI live, and I would rather much seem them reunite because they had yet to reach their peak.

Which is as much as a Smashing Pumpkins "reunion" will ever get. It's Smashing Pumpkins only because one guy owns the name. No better than Axl Rose holding onto the GNR title.

A. Today is not one of the best songs of the 90s.
B. At the Drive-In have, at minimum, three albums worth buying.
C. Even if Today was some kind of fantastic song, saying it could outweigh another band's
catalog is categorically kind of silly. Apples and oranges.
Both these bands ended when they should have ended. Their stories were complete. The only time a band should reform is if it's going to be a Wire situation, where they're actually intending to make music that stands up to their prime stuff.

Let's look at the facts:
1. The band had a pact that if any one of its members quit, that was the end of the band.
2. Omar and Cedric quit ATDI just Jim was getting married. Their set at the reception was ATDI's last show.
3. In the press, Omar and Cedric have criticized ATDI's back catalog along with Sparta's decision to go to a major so soon after forming.
Band break-ups are never really cut and dry. There may be more than what we've seen in the press, but ultimately, they aren't together anymore and they won't reunite.

Yeah, I/C/O is definitely the best. Pretty much without flaw (well, arguably "A Devil Among the Taylors," but I wouldn't cut it if I could).
They were pretty great during that Get Up Kids tour, I saw them twice... which meant seeing the GUKs stink it up twice. That was when the Kids were trying to get famous. They must have been pissed when Jimmy Eat World stole their idea.
I was lucky enough to see ATDI during the I/C/O tour and that was easily one of the... probably five best shows I've ever seen. Real eye-opener back whenever that was.

I think this maybe a generational thing, becausethe best part about ATDI for me was seeing a bunch of skinny little hispanic guys rock out, which as a skinny, still awkward hispanic kid was nice. It was one of those bands that were mine, not that they were the greatest band ever. But their music is associated with my adolescence and I never got to see them live.
