Yeah, Tribe, definitely. Though these hip hop polls are definitely making me want to listen to BOTH artists...I also haven't heard 3 Feet High and Rising in years either, and remember digging that one as a kid. But seriously...very few hip hop albums or albums in general come close to The Low End Theory for me, so its Q-Tip, Phife and Ali in a walk.

weird, i was just about to do this poll.
personally, this one for me is impossible. My all time hip hop groups (not just a MC+DJ, must have at least 2 MCs) list has always looked like this:
1. De La
2. Outkast
3. Tribe
between 91-93 Tribe easily takes the cake, but De La has had by far the most interesting career. It really depends on the period of time we're talking about. De La's debut is better than Tribe's, but Tribe's soph. + jr. LPs are better than De La's respective releases, while De La's following albums beat Tribe's (Stakes Is High + AOI:One over Beats, Rhymes + Life and The Love Movement).

De La... only for 3 feet high. I love tribe as well, but they never released a "classic" album imo. All of their albums had a few duds on em, except the greatest hits album.
I honestly don't even care about the innovations that 3 feet high ushered in, its simply one of the best series of songs ever.
Hans Christian Anderson

Tribe has more classics than De La. The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders are both top 10 hip hop disks. 3 Ft. is De La's only straight up indisputable classic.

Obviously not....
Buhloone was actually my favorite De La disk for most of high school. Fantastic, fantastic fucking album (as are ...Is Dead->AOI:One and The Grind Date, not AOI:Two though). I wouldn't say that any of these are "indisputable classics" though. ...Is Dead is the one with the best argument for that title, but I still think it falls a little bit short.
by the way...awesome to see Phife love (the man is sickeningly underrated)...and Vivian, you easily have my favorite SOMB avitar ever.

Yeh, I disagree with that comment, also. DLS is Dead is one of the all time hip hop greats. I vote De la, but it was close (and I almost voted for Tribe simply because what's-his-name was wearing an Astros jersey... fucking hate the As-hos)

Tribe. LET and MM are first-rate. De La has got 3 Feet High and Rising and ...is Dead, both of which I love. In my experience, Tribe has put on a better live show, though, so they get my vote. Two, three years ago at the House of Blues, De La, at the 50 or 55 minute point, abruptly ended the show. No warning. No encore. Just "Sorry we have to go. We'll play more next time." Fuckers.

i'll repeat my stance again. tribes highs are higher, but de la is the better group over time and in the grand scheme of things.
either way though, two incredibly important and amazing groups in the history of american music.

a bit of blasphemy....
i've never liked a wolf in sheep's clothing. i've owned it for about 5 years now and i've tried many times to get into it but it really doesn't do anything for me. this has always puzzled me cause on paper they sound like something i'd love. the "violence song" is hysterical, but i'd just rather listen to tribe, de la or brand nubian any day.
btw - "one for all" sounds as good today as it did the last time i heard it. and the time before that. such a criminally underrated record. it easily stands with tribe and de la's best.

I like Stakes Is High probably more than anyone on this board.
The only Black Sheep I know is the one track they have on that Brand New Heavies Heavy Rhyme Vol I. record, and it's good.
I don't know who to go with in this poll...can't decide.
