Better than average premise, horrible/indefensible execution. Some of the worst writing I've encountered in ages, which is saying something.

That's quite a cast. I don't remember that film at all. Was it a straight to dvd? I'm doubting it by who's in it. What's the premise?

Bunch of guys commit a crime, wind up in a wearhouse, accuse each other of being a mole, pull their guns at the other at the same time, yell at each other to put their guns down, then everyone dies in an orgy of gunfire?

I thought that was called Resivoir Dogs

The difference being that, when the film opens, no one remembers why they are there. Sounded good, so thanks for steering me away, Slackmo.

The Devil & Daniel Johnston

Watching his descent into madness was pretty was a rough ride. I just felt sorry for the guy and his parents. His parents know he will out live them and he can't take care of himself.
I heard nothing to make me think anyone needs to hear this guy's music.

see this movie

I just finished watching this too. Honestly, I think the film has received too much praise; as has Daniel Johnston. I'm not very familiar with his work, but it does feel very over rated. I got the impression that many of his devotees want him to be great, just so they can say they were there (although, I did like some of his drawings...definitly more than I enjoyed his music).

I also think that was the problem with the film. The film makers are obviously fans; and that fandom seemed to infiltrate their portrayal. They wanted to show the artistic genius in his madness, but I'm not sure if that's honest...and I'm also not sure if there's just madness there.

The second viewing was even better than the first for me--I really got quite a bit out of the movie...Anyways, Gosling is super and deserves the award over DeForest Whitaker....Probably the best movie about the education system since 187....though the movie isnt entirely about the education system...The Kids should learn about dialetics---maybe???

I loved Amelie - great silly French fun.

But I must admit to being relatively unimpressed with Royal Tenenbaums. Well, see, I thought it was incredibly well-written + acted, but it just didn't seem to work as a film. I'd be willing to bet that if this was performed on stage, it would work much better.

Yeah - 15 whole minutes of it; then I said "oh helllllll no!" and found more interesting ways to waste my time.

I've decided that I pretty much despise entertainment of any format that's straight-up based on the bible. What can I say? Biblical mythology is some of the least interesting storytelling ever produced. Give me the ol' Greek gods any day - at least they knew how to party.

Yeah 'Paradise Lost' sucks! /sarc

TTC is really as good as movie storytelling gets. At 4 hours it isn't boring for a second. C.B. Demille was quite a showman. Check out 'Samson and Delilah'.

Bertrand Russell once said that Christianity was a mishmash of Greek theology, Roman Canon Law and Jewish Sacred History. That was cool.

I vaguely recall seeing Samson + Delilah when I was much, much younger. I have a few relatives who are into the ol' religious themes in film. I don't remember if I liked it - chances are that I probably didn't if I haven't seen it again.

I watched the Departed also. It was very good, but I was still a little let down because of all the hype. Sometimes I feel like Scorcese is the Rolling Stones, and everyone wants his latest work to be the best thing since Exile (or Goodfellas, Raging Bull or Taxi Driver). Departed is some of his best recent work...but it's no Goodfellas. Nicholson was ok, but to be honest, I'm a Nicolson hater; and everything I hate about Nicholson was present in his role as Costello. Without going into detail, my biggest problem with Nicholson is that I'm always conscious that he's acting (which I'd think is one of the worst insults you can pay an actor). When he started doing his rat speech, with the rat teeth, I just wanted to punch him.

DeCapprio on the other hand (who I'm no big fan of either) was phenomenal.

Kind of movie I would have been into when I was about eight. It was not that bad of a movie; it is probably better than most of the horror movies released today. I should probably checkout the sequel to Waxwork; Bruce Campbell is in it. I think the little guy on the movie poster played ALF back in the 80's...that is what someone told me...I guess they dressed him up in the ALF costume for various scenes--when a full body shot of ALf was needed.

Totally embarrassing! But I'm glad you've had the chance to see it. I'm not into anime as much as I used to be, but Bebop remains my all-time favorite. Episodes 24 and 26 are stunning.

And definitely see the movie. It doesn't hold much importance in the whole scheme of things (it takes place before the final four episodes, before shit hits fans and such), but it's beautifully animated and rather badass. I had a chance to see it at the Music Box three or four years ago.

Just watched this morning. I know I liked it, but really don't know how I feel otherwise. The approach to the romance was definitely not what I expected, so I'm sort of unsure whether or not I actually can comprehend the way Stephane acts. The way he has such a blind crush but is also such a jerk just seems fascinating, and that there's some real psychological depth to this film. Plus, I really have no clue what to make of the final sequence/shot. Most reviews are only making a big deal of the visuals alone, but I think there is actually a lot more to this story than it initially seems. No meet cutes in this "romantic comedy." Looking forward to another viewing.

By request.

First gripes, lacks the central emotion attachment that could be felt to Shaun in that Angel is a by-the-book do-gooder and for the majority of the film, secondly it's twenty minutes too long, it sags slightly before the finale and the finale itself has one protracted gun battle too many for my liking.

On the positive side though. Tremendous fun; take the love and referencing that Wright and Pegg have for horror films in Spaced and Shaun of the Dead and replace it with action films. Deliberate nods largely in the direction of Point Break but sly nods to Die Hard and Mullholland Drive can be spotted by the eagle-eyed. The first hour is pretty much the most fun I've had at the cinema for a while and the cast, if you are me is like going to a party and knowing nearly everyone there.

There's a good movie in here somewhere. Maybe take out the endless battle scenes we've seen a dozen times before. And the drunk veteran plot. And the neverending ending. And especially the following weepy exchange, which I'm still shocked could be written into a motion picture in 2006:

Father: "I'm sorry I wasn't a better father to you."
Son: "You were the best dad I could ever have."

And that was pretty much the only time those two characters interacted in the whole movie!

I'd love to see a remake this movie with the exact same script, set in the exact same time period, with sets, props & costumes just slightly updated, but with A & B list actors in all the roles.

I guess there has been rumors of a remake since the late 90's--with David Zucker as the Producer/Director. If that's the case--that Zucker is the would be producer/director--I think I would have to skip the remake; you would probably see Dropo stick a dildo in a light socket...Also, man, I saw a performance of Santa Clause conquers the Martians with puppets a while back; it was the craziest thing I have ever seen...
