Writing my final paper for horror on this one. It's hands down the best film of the trilogy. It's just such a great blend of semi-legit horror with comedy thrown in. Such a good film.

100% correct. It's the only one of the three I actually own. It's positively brilliant. And I'm not a fan of 99% of horror flicks.

Finally watching this. Jesustastic!

Aside from the death/resurrection scene, there really wasn't that much of The Jesus in that one, was there?

Anyway, it was competent I guess. Seemed to be missing something, though I don't know what that something is
Andyroo
Based on the first hour, it just seems really obvious that the lion is The Jesus (based on how they talk of him; the propechies). Of course, I'd heard that a million times beforehand, but I think I would've noticed it anyway.

I read the books a decade ago and liked them quite a bit, but I remember nothing about this series.

I think it was a lack of good taste when it came to the White Witch's wardrobe design.

Outside of that, I thought the flick was pretty good. Not great, but certainly better than I would have expected.
Andyroo
It seemed to lack a bit of personality. Nothing spectacular about it, really, but decent.

Edit: I just watched Ong-Bak: The Thai Warror on UMD (which is annoying, but it's a review copy for Static). Storyline is a non-issue; the action is fantastic. Fighting dudes when his legs are on fire, jumping through a barbed-wire hoop... insanity.

Somebody several pages back remarked on how this film bored them to tears or something of that nature. I watched it and enjoyed the crap out of it! One of Allen's best.

Birth. I found myself rather awestruck by the imagery. It's visually exquisite.
Very reminiscent of Fincher in a way but clearly ripped from Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' by way of Kubrick or something.

Unfortunately it goes nowhere and says so little as a thriller that it just floats there.

btw. I've never thought of Kidman as "chesty" but this scene above seemed to try and accentuate what may in fact not really be there..

I couldn't remember what else Glazer had done but once I saw that he did 'Sexy Beast' it kinda made more sense to me. cool.gif

I hadn't seen it since it was first released. It holds up pretty well, though the the relationship between Nicholson and Maria Schneider seems to have zero chemistry (maybe that was the idea).

Wow. This was phenomenal. I can't for the life of me figure out why this couldn't beat Crash--I suspect some sort of Spielberg backlash. It's the rare movie that pairs action with ethical considerations. Highly recommended, and will place prominently in my 2005 Reassessment.

Yes, I did see History of Violence, and I'm a pretty big Cronenberg fan. To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed. Maybe it was partially due to all of the praise that it received. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining and well-made, but I was expecting a masterpiece.

I would recommend eXistenZ or Spider, which I found to be much more original.

'Crash' (no not the Oscar winner) is kinda fickle, disturbing and funny all at the same time.
'Naked Lunch' is a masterpiece.
