Satan Said Dance
Underwater (You and Me)
Love Song No. 7

Ok, first the Frog Eyes thread, and now this one. I apologize for the fanboyish overenthusiasm, but it is early and i just woke up and these are two of my most anticipated albums for 2007. And these tracks are fucking insanely good. Different, but good.

Thanks for the 'satan said dance' link, the last post didn't have that one. It is a very good song. Best of the lot, I'd say. For some reason I haven't been eagerly anticipating the new CYHSY... like for some reason I just expected a drop-off... and after hearing the first two tunes from their website it seemed that my expectation might be accurate. Not that these songs suck, as some have suggested... but, I mean, let's be reasonable, when compared to some of the standouts from the debut, 'love song' and 'underwater' aren't exactly getting the job done.

Satan said dance is pretty damn cool though. My interest is sufficiently piqued.

I agree. The first 2 sounded like the band simply treading water, but Satan said dance is pretty interesting.

While i agree that "Underwater" and "Love Song No.7" sound closer to the first album, i would hardly say that is a bad thing. I just don't see it as treading water (at least not yet). I think that if those two tracks pale in comparison, it is more of a testament to just how good "Satan Said Dance" is.

All in all, I'm more than happy with all three tracks so far.

Me like.

Underwater and Love Song are bland and disappointing. Neither one is as catchy or fun as anything from the debut

Satan Said Dance is much better and more interesting, though a little long

absolute garbage. none of the charm and melody as anything on the first record...granted, these are just three of the tracks, but still...you'd think they'd release something to build buzz.

but then again, this is CYHSY (;

never understood the big deal about them. they always sounded lukewarm to me. sure, country teeth is good, but it doesn't hold up for me against any of the songs off funeral, or anything by modest mouse. and the harder i fall in love with sunset rubdown (the affair's six months strong and still growing) the more unnecessary they seem. spencer krug has half the hype and twice the talent. i want this next album to click with me, but i dunno. i just don't know why we need another yelping white boy indie band? enough bands do it far better.

nice cover though...

Man, you guys are harsh. I thought for sure that the early feedback would be positive, given that the debut was generally so well-received, and these tracks walk the same path. Then again, Franz did the same thing with YCHISMB, and it also received a lukewarm reception, so i guess this is to be expected. Personally, im glad they didn't make drastic changes for their sophomore effort. I mean, Bloc Party attempted to change what wasn't broken for their follow-up to Silent Alarm, and just look at the mess that was the result.

Interesting, cuz I think my affair is finally coming to an end. I still think that Shut Up I Am Dreaming is a great record (one of the best of '06, in fact), but the more i go back and listen to it, to more disenchanted i become.

for real? i hadn't listened to it for a couple months, and the first time i played it, ending the hiatus, from the first song, it held me. "i'm sorry that anybody dies" is one of the truest lines from one of the truest openings ever. and each song, though overlong perhaps, fades beautifully into the next, up until the ending which is completely, absolutely satisfying. i can't think of an indie album which has been more heartfelt. ever. it isn't that accessible, but once the ice is broken, i think it's a lifelong love, lifelong burden.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah now with 100% more big drums and guitar solos. Another some loud thunder track has found it's way onto the interwebs. Pretty good song this album is shaping up nicely. Isn't it about time for the full album to leak?

Hmm. I'ma give all this the benefit of the doubt 'til I hear it as a whole.

I'm sure it'll leak before then, but starting on 1/16, you'll be able to download the rekkid from the CYHSY site.
