JEHU/HOT SNAKES/ETC. UPDATE!
Jon Reis has started up
The Night Marchers w/ 2 ex-Hot Snakes, they sound okay.
Based upon the samples I've heard though, I'm quite a bit more excited about Rick Froberg's group
Obits.
Here's a rar of the full show sampled on the Obits myspace. Sound quality ain't the greatest, but it's nice to hear the man's voice. And as that guy who shot HGH into Roger Clemens butt would say, It is what it is:

Just recently got into this 2007 release and am loving it. Super noisy garage rock fronted by Japanoise legend Masonna.
Acid Eater - Virulent Fuzz Punk A.C.I.D.http://www.mediafire.com/?24zwmfhlxn1QUOTE
Imagine the heaviest, most fuzzed out garage rock you've ever heard, now take that and run it through a handful of distortion pedals, a bank of Acid Mothers worthy FX, blast it through a wall of busted old Vox amps, wrap the whole thing in feedback and reverb, and suddenly you're in some alien alternate future where the world is populated exclusively by Japanese noiserock beatniks, who are constantly blasting fuzzed out walls of overblown sixties sounds from their low flying spacecraft...
Imagine if Merzbow remixed your favorite Fuzztones record, or the Stooges released records on PSF and were augmented by some insane drug addled organist with WAY too many amps. Serpentine blues rock riffs, all tangled up with thick warbling organs, the vocals a snarling distorted howl, buried in the mix, and all dubbed out, the drums a crumbling, percussive pound, somehow as in the red as the rest of the instruments, every cymbal crash swallowing up all the other sounds, but it's the riffs, and the organ, and Masonna's wild eyed vocalizing that keep this blacklight space garage party going. Not to mention the killer hooks... Virulent Fuzz Punk A.C.I.D. perfectly captures how intense and freaked out it must be to experience this sound live, super distorted, feedback everywhere, the instruments in your face, the speakers threatening to blow, sweat, blood, spit, a swirling chaotic musical melee, heavy, distorted, fuzzy and funky, wild and woolly, spaced out and gloriously gloriously noisy.

Just a note to say RTX have a new album out. It's bizarrely named
JJ Got Live RaTX, but isn't live. They will, as the promotional bumph has it, be playing some of these songs at live shows in the future. Har.
Not listened to too much of it yet, but RTX + Maidenesque syncopation +
Ultimate Warrior iconography = album of the year.

It's October 27th over here (the release date, not todays date. That
would be odd...); I got sent a bunch of CDs to review by the distro. Sadly, someone else bagsied RTX for write-up, so I suppose I shall have to go for David Grubbs or Slipstream.
I have heard more than before. It is better than I thought. Way better to these ears than
Western Xterminator, which left me slightly empty.* The first song is almost AWK by way of Bikini Kill. I now have three RTX albums and a Trux loaded onto my phoneplayer.
* This could be due to the all-encompassing awesomeness of
Transmaniacon, or the fact that I admittedly didn't listen to it enough.

Steel Pole Bathtub
Way back many years ago I was reading, it was either a 'zine or an issue of Thrasher when they did record reviews and I stumbled on a review of this album
Butterfly Love by some band called Steel Pole Bathtub. The review said something to the effect that the album was like sitting in the bathroom with a really bad hangover while in the room to the left someone was playing
Metal Machine Music and in the room to the right someone was flipping channels between 70's sitcoms and old movies. At the time I didn't know what
Metal Machine Music was, but I sure as fuck knew what Metal was (motherfuckin' death Satan and nuclear assraping doncha know). So I went to the closest record shop (35 miles away) and special ordered the LP.
Took forever but it was worth the wait. Over the years I lost it, I think I left it at some girl's house and I never could find it on CD. But thanks to the bird, I got it back, and here it is along with the "Lurch" ep. If y'all like it, I got more.

One more Steel Pole Bathtub album. I
really like these guys.
So in 1995 SPB were picked up by Slash records, they released one really good album called
Scars From Falling Down. In 1996 for their next release they wanted to cover the Cars' debut in its entirety. Slash said no, and they also deemed the other cemo tracks the band submitted as unlistenable. So they stopped releasing albums for a while. In 2002 they were finally able to release the album, now titled
Unlistenable.

I've heard a bit of Brimstone Howl. Not enough to form much of an opinion on them. As for Jim Diamond... I can't count the amount of times I've heard from a shitty band wanting to have a record put out and saying "Jim Diamond recorded a few songs for us". It's like the standard lie people put on their resume, haha. I guess it's true a lot of the time, but it doesn't seem to correlate to quality.
