Any of you guys into Wavves? Really digging the new album that leaked yesterday, cleverly titled, "Wavvves".
There are a lot of links on the internet, but most are for the demo version on de stijl - which dude apparently left right before they released his album? fucked up. If there's any interest, I'll up a proper version.
yes please... nevermind, found it here.

Not sure yet on the Wavves album... There are some really good songs on there, namely "I'm So Bored" and "No Hope Kids", but there's also a whole lot of completely-skippable filler. I'll give it a few more listens though.

yeah, another disappointment on first listen... a few really great tunes and a bunch of really boring noise tracks.

Yeah, so I grabbed the proper Wavvves album and I agree it's definitely better than the demo. "Beach Demon" and "Weed Demon" are just as good as the beloved "So Bored" and "No Hope Kids", plus there's a bunch of other solid stuff spread thoughout. Still, the ambient tracks feel like weak attempts at a Deerhunter kind of thing and the last 4 songs just plain suck. “Killr Punx, Scary Demons” is pretty much unlistenable. A lot of shit could've been cut off, but the good songs are really good, no doubt.

New Propagandhi leaked, and wow, does it ever sound good.
"Dear Coach's Corner" is the best Canadian rock 'n' roll song I've heard in quite a while.
Dear Ron McLean. Dear Coach's Corner.
I'm writing in order for someone to explain
to my niece the distinction between
these mandatory pre-game group rites of submission
and the rallies at Nuremberg.
Specifically the function the ritual serves
in conjunction with what everybody knows is,
in the end, a kid's game.
I'm just appealing to your sense of fair play
when I say she's puzzled by this incessant pressure
for her to not defy collective will and yellow ribboned lapels,
as the soldiers inexplicably rappel down from the arena rafters.
Which, if it not so insane,
they'll be grounds for screaming laughter.
Dear Ron McLean, I wouldn't bother with these questions
if I didn't sense some spiritual connection.
We may not be the same, but it's not like we're from different planets.
We both love this game so much we can hardly fucking stand it.
Alberta-born, and Prairie-raised.
It seems like there ain't a sheet of ice north of Fargo I ain't played.
From Penhold to the Gatinaeu, every fond memory of childhood
that I know is somehow connected to the culture of this game.
I just can't let it go.
I guess it comes down to what kind of world you want to live in.
And if diversity is disagreement, disagreement is treason.
Well, don't be surprised if we find ourselves
reaping a strange and bitter fruit that that sad old man beside you
keeps feeding to young minds as virtue.
It takes a village to raise a child, but just a flag to raze the children
till they're nothing more than ballasts for fulfilling
a madman's dream of a paradise. Complexity reduced to black and white.
How do I protect her from this cult of death?

Yeah I think the name-change was a big misstep for this band. They were on a steady rise (blogs, playing major NYC shows, etc.) and they didn't follow up on it quickly enough. Memory is too short in the digital age and they didn't capitalize quickly enough on their early success. Now people don't know who the Soft Pack is, and people don't remember the Muslims either.
*Not to mention the old name rules, and the new name sucks. Took the wind right out of their sails.
P.S. Sorry if I came off like a dick. That was not intended.

There's a flute solo on this new one by Thee Oh Sees, which makes 1000x better use of the instrument than Fucked Up did.
Pretty good album, btw. There's no "Block of Ice"s on here, but overall I think it might be a better album than 'The Master's...".

i personally prefer the Nation of Ulysses stuff, but the Make-Up is easily the best of his "rock n roll" bands. NOU were a lot more akin to Drive Like Jehu. The singles comp gangoffour20 recommended is probably the best place to start for Make-Up.
