STOP SLEEPIN!!!
this mix is great

I copped that Larry Heard when you posted it. Wasn't floored, but enjoyed it quite a bit.

It seems like everyone's throwing "Just Like We (Breakdown) DFA Remix" into their mixes the past 8 months. Not complaining, just saying.
boobs
i think its pretty great... the synth poppy/hot chip part is my least favorite actually but i didnt even recognize hot chip until bgwaves pointed it out to me today :-(

whats the song playing 12-13-14 mins into the mix? If anyone knows i will kiss them
boobs
ok, if anyone knows i will REFUSE to kiss them

i've been gettin' toasty and listening to emergency. it feels good. i think i'm going to do some editing between 2:51 - 3:47 (it goes a little long here) but that's it for the changes. i like the transition found @ 1:25 and the newcleus outro that begins between 4:16/17 is heart-warming.

Anyone with a remote interest in dance music should check this out; a Larry Heard mix courtesy the deep house page:

http://dhpmixes.com/mixes/LarryHeard032207.mp3

What is the deep house page? I try visiting it and I get nothing and Google gets me nothing for dhpmixes.com but a page that seems to be dead.

hah dude just search 'deep house page'

here's a theo parrish mix for y'all to check too ... seems pretty raw

Bruegs
I really like this Hot Flush mini-comp (dubstep nutshell).

Ground-breaking? No.
Clichéd? Quite possibly.
Fun? Most Definitely.

Beats slam, acid rains, subs squelch, dub skanks, synths spook and the obligatory eastern nonsense mystifies (or should that be eastern mysticism noncifies?).

Now for the knowledge:

Dutch Master Noel Wessel graduated from the school of gabber and has been banging out relentless, hardcore DnB for what seems like eons but unbelievably this is his first album. My eardrums can attest to the brutality of his breakcore but the strength of this album lies in the balance of the ambient and percussive elements. A braver teacher than I might explain their complex relational dependence through an extended metaphor based, perhaps, on the dyadic-nexus of ethno-nationalism. He might, for example, cast the melodic ambient vignettes as an expelled diaspora, migrating across the splintery terrain of DJ Hidden's fractured heartland, DnB (in itself, a bastard province of balkanised beats...the serbo-croat of genres). I however would not dream of embarking on so treacherous an intellectual voyage and instead I simply ask that you download this track and, if you like it, give the album a try.

In the meantime, to tide you over, here are a couple of highlights from my night out, which reminds me, I must go to bed as I have now been up just over a day an I’m starting to see and hear things that don’t exist.

see this, too me, this is real d&b/jungle whatever you wanna call it. Still has that sensuality to it, what happened a few years later whne jungle got dark, noisy, and mean? Was it some sort of backlash, cause I dont think it had hit our shores at that point yet, or maybe it was how dubstep is now. In any case this is the kinda shit that used to fill the jungle rooms at parties, and then youd have some noise terrorist come in and (willfully?) destroy the dance floor, im talking clear the fuckin room and hallways leading to the room type shit. Those oceanic synths are what make this shit so good. The beat makes you dance and the synths make you cum, if your rolling I guess.

Hey people, can any of you recommend tracks for a cd compilation (1 or 2 80minute discs worth) of the kind of stuff that gets talked about here? I'm no conneousur by anyone's standards, but I have and like stuff by the likes of Villalobos, Matthew Dear, Carl Craig, Booka Shade, Luomo, Isolee... I used to be really into Warp/ Rephlex type stuff but the whole "IDM" thing got a bit "I" (ie pretentious). So yeah, probably quite dancefloor orientated but still interesting techno stuff is what I'm looking for. Anything relatively current by any of the above or similar artists, or remixes, that you lot think I should hear? If you want to post any tracks, even better! Cheers in advance.
Artem
i kind of like gui boratto singles and remixes

also:

dominik eulberg - adler
efdemin - acid bells
pantha du prince - asha
robert babics - sin
stephan bodzin - luka-leon

these are like your standard techno tracks. not too minimal to scare the majority of the people.

Hey Bruegel/other dubstep people,

Is SHACKLETON / APPLEBLIM - Soundboy Punishments a good place to start on my journey into dubstep? (I'm mainly intrigued by the mention of the Villalobos remix, but still...) Definitely have a listen to the DJ Pinch mix on the MAH show that I posted a couple of pages back - here is a link (Scroll down the page for the download link...its still active, I just checked)

It’s a good entry point, especially if your more familiar with techno as its sort of explores the muddied waters between the two genres...plus it’s immediately followed by an exert of the Villalobos mix that you mention (97mins into the show). I’m really interested to see what version of the mix appears on Soundboy Punishments....I really want to hear the full 18 minutes.

More generally, dubstep's moving in so many directions at the moment... I suppose Its just question of latching on to what most floats your boat....I will continue to post from a wide palette in here.

Which one?
If you mean RV's 18 minute Apocalypso Now mix of 'Blood on My Hands', I think the 12 drops on Monday....so it should be floating around in the ether pretty soon. Ive only heard edits in mixes so far but I've ordered my copy.

As for the Shackleton/Appleblim - Soundboy Punishments compilation CD....that’s out Monday too. Ive not seen a leak but almost all if it’s already available on various 12s anyhow.

I’m just listening to that Benny Sings album now Artem. Saw him live a while back and it was a lot of fun but Id completely forgotten about him.
