What stuff of his do you have? I'll get you the rest. Goddamn, this stuff is killer. This may have just become #1 on my list of 2008 releases.

Where DO you find obscure (presumably) Italian electronic new releases?

Bruno Pronsato it actually an American called Steven Ford - he has been putting stuff out under various names for years (Bobby Karate, Osvaldo and Half Hawaii with Mario Uwe Radecki). I'd never actually heard of Sartori before my mate gave me a copy of the album a couple of weeks ago.

What do you think of this? I'm about two-thirds through it so far because I have to keep going back to listen to tracks again. I like the mix of styles here.

Not really, throttle furniture comes close but I think Turning Dragon is born out of the demands of a European club tour.

Im still a bit on the fence. Ive got a natural aversion to anything vaguely loungey but bits of this are undeniably brilliant......ehi amigo, for instance, is a funksome treat. For all my reservations I’m still listening to it a fuckload so it can't be bad.

You are a fucking demon Jugo. Cheers for these. I’m still working on my top 07 list.....give me a few months.

Listened to this a good bit today...sounded great, if a little incongruous, driving through snow..

For those of you feenin for the new Clark, he did a wicked little mix last week on the MAH show - it includes some of the new stuff with some clipse and UR thrown in for the fuck of it.

QUOTE
Clark Mix
William Oaksmith - ?
Clipse - Mr Me Too (acapella/ Voltek/Clark)
Clark - Beg Clark (penultimate mix)
Clark - Penultimate Persian

The whole show is worth a listen but for the truly imaptient amongst you, Clarks schizoid nugget For Wolves Crew pops up at about 26mins in and the mix kicks off at around the 48min mark. Just on the strength of what I've heard so far I think Turning Dragon is going to top Body Riddle.

I’ve only heard his breakcore stuff which sounded nothing like this but if he's got shit like this in his locker I'd like to hear it...any recommendations?

The problem with that mp3 of the show is that it's got a fair amount of reception fuzz. I just listened to the show on the BBC website's listen again function and it was much cleaner. That new Distance tune is amazing and I really like the Scuba track too.

Durrty Goodz is on the show in a couple of week...hopefully that heralds the arrival of new stuff

PS How the fuck has MAH garnered such respect from artists and junkies alike? I find her DJ style SO grating
throughsilver
She is a crafty veteran - been around proper forever. I remember her interviewing Faith No More and them being all pally with her back in the day. Aside from that, she's a Radio 1 DJ and can get people heard so she's afforded the respect other, equally unimpressive, folks get like Zane Lowe and Jo Wiley.
jugo
couldn't agree more about MAH. she pisses me off with her adolation of her guests. you can almost hear the sound of her mentally unzipping their flies most of the time :

sychophants are always popular with fragile egos i suppose...

heh. durrty goods. 'they don't know.....'. still love that snitches track he did. he shits all over wiley and dizzy and no mistake IMHO. boi dem is his stand out track for me. in fact, hold up a minute, here it is.
durrty goods - boi dem
if you're not nodding your head when the chorus kicks in 1.30 there's no hope for you! it flips into double time at the end just to cap it off too. very nice!

thanks to orangewarrior over at my regular forum for this. a slamming mix i can't recommend enough. heh heh. this is turning into a ruff page at the mo!

So, is that UR the newest release? I gave it a 'nice' listen yesterday and was fairly impressed... shit's like Drexciya. I wish more people went in this direction with electronics and vocals. Even though they mask some of the vocals with filters, you can tell they aren't doing the same old Kraftwerk/Cybotron thing. I guess my only qualm is the length... coulda cut out like 1/3 of the tracks and had a shorter more fluid record.

I love 'kill my radio station.'

Yeah thanks, Jugo! I was so excited to see my favorite Aphex track ("Vordhosbn" or however the hell you spell it) on there, and when that high-pitched synth thing broke in I just about creamed myself. And "Red Hot Car," too... excellent! Thanks again! smile.gif

Goodness gracious. Did you up all these by yourself?

Mediafire links take a while to expire, right? Because I'm going to need some time to get all these. At least Mediafire lets you download more than one file at a time.

Now there's a trip down memory lane.

About 5 years ago I started a project trying to get hold of every track referenced in Energy Flash. Got about half way through before being daunted by the immensity of the undertaking. This little bounty goes some way towards plugging the gaps.

Cheers mate

no probs all. thanks for the thanks. we all rock!!

tkon upped them in a thread over at discogs. i just copied and pasted, and then individually cut and pasted each one into hotlink code, and organising it all into managable sections.

So my Surgeon comp arrived today. Nice, hand numbered, but I'm not sure I can ever open it. It's one of those card sleeves with a near-impenetrable folding situation at the back. And if I do manage to unfold it, I doubt I would ever be able to re-do it. Damn you Warp!

MORE FUN QUESTIONS

who's heard Kikrokos "Jungle DJ" lp???

'life is a jungle' has this section that sounds like current minimal ... but its on a disco LP from '78! real weird!!
Bruegs
Nice cover. Minimal as in the stripped or massified interpretation? It seems that the term is being used to describe everything from the but-naked to Saville Row-clad these days.

Anyhows, here is a couple of great releases from the tailend of last year. Time to add some Arabic and African phrases to our ever growing electro-acoustic lexicon (by way of Turkey and Canada…..obviously).

Özer’s first full length is quite obviously a product of the ancient/modern melting pot that is Istanbul. You can feel the confluence of so many disparate influences in these tracks varied textures. The piano and brass treatments are particularly great……

The organic elements in this Dumont album are largely percussive. The afro-house fusions are less austere than some of the other albums I’ve been sharing here recently but no less enjoyable for it.

MACHINEFABRIEK & JASPER TX - Feberdröm Odradek

QUOTE
The Machinefabriek Express rolls into town again, this time in the form of a three-inch collaboration with Dag Rosenqvist, aka the very excellent Jasper TX. Previously these two titans of contemporary electronics have convened for the Vintermusik project, and here once again the pair vividly evoke a very tangible sense of sonic desolation and a frozen, droning blankness using only a handful of well-placed electronic tones. The disc lasts 25 minutes, evolving in an organic, linear fashion, starting from a solid bank of sine tones only to take on a kind of grainy, dusty quality as the piece progresses. Soon new overtones can be heard and subtle crackles, pops and glitches surface from the extremities of the stereo field. It's these disruptive elements that commandeer the disc in its final third, rupturing the formerly smooth tonal surfaces and leaving a data stream of fractured pulses in its wake. Feberdrom is extremely simple in concept but elegant in its execution nonetheless, serving as worthy entry into both artists' catalogues. Gorgeous stuff - Highly Recommended!

It says 50 copies, but I don't know whether that's overall or just for that shop. Gotta love 3" CDs though.

I'm terrible, I know.

That Bretschneider download hasn't been working for me. Anybody else having trouble with it timing out, or is this my problem?

The minimalism of the Bretschneider is a pleasant surprise. I'm not really sure what I think about it yet. I feel like I need to make some sorts of mixes and incorporate these tracks. Do something with them. Otherwise I feel like I'm eating raw flour.

This was floating around in bloggyville, and holy shit is it astounding. Those that have been enjoying the Porn Sword
Tobacco and Cylob stuff will feel right at home listening to this soundtrack. Para One has a great ear for minimal melody
and creating simple little dreamscapes. This is what Tangerine Dream should have sounded like in the 80's.
