Chuck Berry > Paul MacCartney being Little Richard > Little Richard

Little Richard is easily the best thing to happen to music in this era. Macca > Liam, but that's about it.

Could somebody be very gentle and upload a package with this for me?

# 228 Little Willie John - I'm shakin'
# 218 The Drifters - There goes my baby
# 204 The Clovers - One Mint Julep
# 141 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - Shop Around
# 093 The Ronettes - Baby I love you
# 090 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - Mickey's Monkey

i don't know if there is more people having trouble and finding "expired" or "blocked" when trying to retrieve a file from ysi. You could also use "bigupload.com", "rapidshare.de", "megaupload.com", "savefile.com"...
I like the first one the best. Although it's not so fast, the files stay for 30 days after the last download, but if they stay active, they may live forever on the server...
I'd recommend this for a possible "SOMB 250 top singles '50-'64"compilation.

Note to TV news anchors:

This song should be played behind all " Bird Flu" news footage.

The Trashmen: brilliant name. The story on this song at the time was that it was recorded by a bunch of LA session guys who were just fucking about after they had already finished working on the tracks for some other " legit" surf music. I dunno if that's true, but that's the way the DJ intro'd it. Like everything else in pop music, it's probably total bullshit.

BTW, this is an outstanding and most interesting list, and, once again, insightful, clever, and intensive, (almost) completely error-free work by Dr. Bill, or whatever the fuck he's calling himself today.
Interesting period in music. Even the shitty songs (not too many here. yet.) have a certain naivete coupled with a dash of rebellion, coupled with some kind of crazed belief ( post WW2, probably) that the world was going to be a wonderful place somehow, especially if you were a goddam teenager. I can see how JFK slid right into this mix. Completely inneffective President, but a wonderful symbolic figurehead, especially for da youth. Kids really did think they could effect some real change.
Ha ha. Suckers!
Or as John F. Kennedy was overheard saying as he stepped off the plane in Dallas,
" I need this job like a hole in the head."

p.s.: What does "real high vote most likely missing" mean?

I just tried upping 4 of them from my own CD collection but in my first attempt at YSI the files came up as unavailable. It seemed simple enough...pick the file, email it to myself, then copy and paste here...right? But when I checked the link YSI emailed to me....it was unvailable. I feel so inadequate. Any help?

A couple of the lists posted early on were lost when the board crashed and were neer re-posted. So their lists have been tabbed but I can't see where they ranked things.

I'm still looking for #141. Smokey Robinson & the Miracles - "Shop Around" ... but I have a feeling it's gonna be like that George Jones song earlier, just un-YSI-able.
