It probably is, but isn't it a transcode? If it's not on Oink, I'm leery about the quality. I'll wait.

The interpol is 160kbps. Not bad quality at all. Though when the higher quality one does leak I'll be getting that and replacing my current copy.

edit: john vanderslice is also out there. i'll try to get ups of both later, but i'm a bit busy now.

lol @ the last track turning into a Sloop John B cover (kind of) halfway through.

edit: Sounded pretty good though, as a whole it seemed a little more rock than Black Sheep Boy was, seems like they went more in the direction of songs like "Black" , "For Real", and "The Latest Toughs", which I like.

"Balearic grooves, lusty latin flavours, searing sunshine vocals, irresistable rhythms; essentially this is pure, soulful summer vibes on two CDs! Beach House 2006 was one hard act to follow but somehow this album raises the bar yet again and delivers sun-kissed sexy house like only Hed Kandi knows how. Last year's Beach House album was one of HK's biggest selling titles, so there's much anticipation surrounding this new release! Disc One starts with the daddy of sundrenched house himself, Miguel Migs, "So Far" is taken from his latest album, and it sets the tone perfectly. The disc continues with some familiar names like Hot Chip, MJ Cole, Roachford, MYNC, & Chris Lake. The second disc continues in a more up vibe with the Andy Caldwell remix of Cloud's Turning; then into a brand new track, It's Gonna Happen from our wonderful new Hed Kandi discovery, the talented Miss Maxine Hardcastle. Hed Kandi DJ and producer, Wez Clarke, takes the cool remix credit under his Wesley Clarke monicker and the original was produced by somebody very, very famous..."

QUOTE
Julian Cope's new album YOU GOTTA PROBLEM WITH ME (no question mark) is another protest album in the tradition of his previous releases PEGGY SUICIDE, JEHOVAHKILL, AUTOGEDDON, CITIZEN CAIN‚ and DARK ORGASM. Unlike most records by Cope's head-in-the-sand punk rock contemporaries (almost all of whom he believes to be shirking their primary rock 'n' roll responsibility as cultural mouthpieces), YOU GOTTA PROBLEM WITH ME deals primarily with such currently controversial, nay, taboo issues as religion (our own and other peoples'), and the West's latest wave of xenophobia, soul-searching and self-doubts brought on by a combination of the war in Iraq, the so-called 9/11 bombings and the EEC's latest huge wave of migrants from former Communist countries. YOU GOTTA PROBLEM WITH ME also addresses all of Cope's other long-term gripes: corporate greed and the destruction of Mother Earth, misogyny and homophobia, and our apparent inability to address such essential matters due to cultural ignorance and the glaring faults in our education system. Yes, Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks are dead, but Cope's still pissed off enough to fly the flag for all three of them! However, while the songs of YOU GOTTA PROBLEM WITH ME are even more lyrically hard-hitting than those on DARK ORGASM, musically this new record ploughs a far more traditional Copean furrow, returning the listener to insidiously melodic post-punk songs in the JEHOVAHKILL style, many sparsely orchestrated with Mellotron, wah-wah guitars, orchestral percussion and even lush harmonies. Released on double-CD and 12" vinyl LP, the 13 songs are split into two sections, and are accompanied by a 16-page booklet of insights, hard-hitting information, and a very epic poem; all designed to shake us from our post-everything stasis.

I'm putting this up because I know there are a few here who, like me, are big fans of Julian Cope. Like most of Julian's recent releases, this has its moments, but it's not something I can see going back to very often. The manifesto above gives some hints and clues as to why: frequently heavy-handed and occasionally embarrassing lyrics filled with anarchist, pagan, hippy-trippy nonsense delivered with annoying vocal affectations, and accompanied by familiar and derivative musical touchstones. There are a few solid melodies and straight-ahead rock songs here, but I need a lot more of JC's rip-roaring prog/punk amalgam and a lot less of his unsubtle soapbox griping to shake me from my post-everything stasis.

Sorry for the street teaming.

Nah, it's not street teaming. Actually with me, more like preaching to the choir.

I haven't looked at his site in a while, so I didn't even realize that he had a new release due out. Thanks bobz!

Meg Baird - Dear Companion (05/2007)

CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/?9kmzjcty1nn

Meg Baird is a founding member of and principal songwriter in Espers. DEAR COMPANION is her first solo album. After the much-celebrated release of ESPERS II last year, Meg’s acoustic album has a base of passionate, interested listeners.DEAR COMPANION pairs traditional songs with cover tunes and a few original compositions. There are plenty more songs out there and more to write — expect to hear more from Meg in the future.

Philly's premier freak folk collective, the echoey, ethereal Espers, will wave their freak flags high above the United Kingdom for a few shows to close out the cruelest month. They'll also take the stage at Ohio's cruelty-free Hockhocking Folk Festival in mid-May.

But the biggest news from the Espers camp comes from Meg Baird, whose barren, beauteous solo debut Dear Companion drops Stateside via Drag City May 22 and UK-ways June 4 from Wichita. Engulfing two Baird originals in eight cover versions and an a cappella take on its title track, the relatively poker-faced Dear Companion may flip a few of the further-out Esper-fan wigs, but it's a chaste companion piece to 2006's II.

In other Espers news, we reported Monday that their Otto Hauser will contribute to the new Devendra Banhart album. Contribute a shave and a haircut, we hope.
