Alright Still
I think "Silver Lining" and "Dreamworld" are some of the best Rilo Kiley tracks yet. Please fish it.
arkin
I don't have it, I've just heard it. I'll fish it if I come across it though.

"Silver Lining" and the title track are pretty good, but pretty much the entire second half is garbage.

That Dirty Projectors album is absolutely stunning. Worth all of the hype that it will sadly never get. And then some.

while i can certainly appreciate a style change, the new Rilo Kiley is pretty bad... sad.gif

the last one wasn't nearly as good as Takeoffs or Execution, but it still had some killer tracks amongst the average stuff...

Nothing Rilo does will top Execution if More Adventurous is their new direction.

More Adventurous doesn't accurately prepare you for their new stuff. It's totally different.

I respect all y'all's opinions but solace not liking a record I'm expecting big things from is a real bummer.

Can the oinkless get an up here or what?

honestly i didn't even mind Moneymaker that much... not great, but certainly not awful either. but I still hoped the album would offer a LOT better than that track.

so fucking pumped to hear this, thanks a lot. I saw them do the Black Flag songs live last October and the arrangements were amazing, I really hope it translates to the album.

Awesome! Great work Artem.
Guys this album is stunning. Just darn brilliant. I listened to it once last night, and this morning I went to the record store this morning, and they didn't have it, but they should have it tomorrow. I will then listen to it, and go ga-ga after the apparent 32 page insert. then I will make a thread to pimp this album.
Artem
the first half of this album is awesome. filled with so many cool arrangements and melodies. the music is so natural and sincere. i really like it. but the second part of the album takes somewhat different turn. it's feels rather sparse if you compare it with the first half, and that's sort of my problem with the album. but, man, those first 5-6 songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that Akron Family is really good. Not, S/T good, but it has some real great moments. A few throwaways, but overall I am impressed.

you've heard the full thing?

it hasn't leaked widely as far as i'm aware...

it's not AWFUL, there are a few redeeming tracks, but it's far and away their weakest album yet, that's for certain...

I like this one. They remind me of a coed Sleepy Jackson kinda. Sprawling, ambitious songs with strings, vocal arrangements, production flourishes.

A bit disappointing after two somewhat distracted listens. The vibe and atmosphere of his last two excellent albums is generally there, but the songs are indistinct and unmemorable. I kept thinking Tom Waits-lite. I need to give it a few more goes since Scar and Tiny Voices were so good. But those grabbed me right away. This didn't.

In the midst of my first listen, and it's all very pleasant although somewhat generic indie rock. But the scary thing is that this 12 song album clocks in at almost 57 minutes. Half the songs clock in at over 5 minutes. They have never struck me as a band that you'd want their songs to stick around for a long time. Like I said, pleasant, generic...this won't offend you, unless you're offended by the pleasant and generic.

Yep. There are a handful of good songs that I'll go back to, but too much of this is just blah, mid-tempo, kinda there. I hope Descended Like Vultures wasn't as good as it gets.
