The funny thing is, that people werent really expecting that much from Daft Punk before they played.
At the time their most recent record was boring and crappy, but they still drew a crowd.
I dont think anyone expected them to do what they did.
In 4 years of going, they played probably the best set Ive seen at Coachella, and that INCLUDES Radiohead, Pixies, Arcade Fire, and everyone else that appeared 2004-7
I don't know about the 'not expecting much'. They had been on peoples' Coachella wishlist for a few years, had started to become legendary recluses based on their lack of live shows (they last played a show in LA in 1997 or so) and despite the last album not being very good and not getting a very positive reaction - the fact that Daft Punk were even
there had people pretty excited. You don't remember the "DAFT! PUNK!" chants prior to the set?
I can say that I've also been to every Coachella in that timespan and although I don't know about the "best" (Radiohead, Pixies, Arcade Fire would all definitely be in that top tier too), DP is probably the most
fun set I've ever seen in that desert.
